whistling under acceleration

g'day guys

my vx v6 has a whistling noise from around 2000 rpm under acceleration & in neutral , its really pissing me off any ideas of what it is & how to fix it . cheers

Never heard of this problem but i'd start by checking for air leaks around the throttle body, air flow sensor and filter box.

does it happen when you turn off your stereo?

does the noise come from the back end of the car? if it does then its probably a problem with the diff. i had a whistling noise coming from my car when i accelerated and just had to get the diff fluid replaced

Your engine wouldn't happen to be Supercharged by any chance? They whistle...

have fixed the whistling problem it was the top idler pulley , get yourself a stethoscope & put on the bolt heads of the pulleys & listen for odd grinding noise - the bearing was stuffed , loosened off the serpentine belt & the pulley still spins ok just when you get up in revs she whistles - get a new pulley unbolt old one bolt up new one prob fixed in 15 minutes .
