Just purchased my first car; 2002 VX Commodore Acclaim II in white. Got; tinted windows and 17" VX SS rims with 235/45R17 sumitomo tyres. However tyres are being changed by dealer cause they aint road worthy. (Had low tread and one tyre had a cut going through the belts, so I went back to dealer and made him change them - STILL WAITING![]()
Just wanting advise on what springs and shocks I should purchase to lower my car??? And what price I'd be looking at??? Thinking of getting it lowered at Pedders and I'm looking at lowering it 1.5 to 2 inches max. Also do I need a camber kit or do all series 2 vx commodores come standard with it???
Any advise would be great???
Monroe shocks & king springs low - same as FE2 - they go 2 inches lower than stock.. VXS2 are supposed to not get inner tire wear but ive heard it still happens.. your best bet is to lower it and just keep an eye on the tread..

Get a 4 wheel alignment by beaurepairs, they should set the camber properly for you. I haven't had it done myself, just going by what Shounak has said he was getting done.
Thanks for that. I give it a go and see what happens.

I had FE2 in my VT and have changed it to Lovells Sports low Springs and Koni Shocks.
It handles a thousand times better than the FE2 and isn't half as harsh.. I have had a different suspension setups and can say IMO that Koni's are a great shock..
The height is 1 inch lower than the FE2 it came with and still sits within the legal limits in WA

How much did Lovells Sports low Springs and Koni Shocks set you back$$$
I can't remember the exact cost but it was around $1600.. but I also have a camber kit put in which has helped with inner tyre wear.
whoa thats pricey
Bear in mind that price is for Koni Adjustables, Lovells all round, a 4 point camber kit, full installation and a full wheel alignment.
Konis are the expensive part in the whole setup, but that is the price for quality..
Depending on who your covered by it might also be worth keeping in mind the insurance factor, especially with your age, just a thought m8, gotta love the VX's.
How true! Insurance is another hole in my wallet!!! And lowering my car will only make that hole bigger!!!But hey at the end of the day when I look at my ride, I won't regret making that hole in my wallet bigger
....Damn Insurance.
How happy are you with the koni shocks? my car is lowered on superlows and i want to get new adjustable shocks so i can raise it up just a little for insurance purposes and just wondering which brand to go with. ThanksOriginally Posted by Slick6
daz08.. Honestly the Konis are really good and handle great.. Unfortunatly the "adjustable" side to the Konis isn't the height side of things. Basically the shocks are adjustable so that you can set them for every day driving or dial them up so if you take it on a track they will handle sweet..
You may need a set of coilovers which will allow you to alter the height..
oh tru, cause lows are to high and super lows are to low... i need to find a happy mediumOriginally Posted by Slick6

yer thats true.. im thinkin the same.. but superlows are gonna make my car illegal so im gonna go wid lows and monroe gt shocks.. I might wait a while before I get the camber kit.. just to see how it goes, I heard a whisper the 2000 vt's had a mod to rectify the problem..?!
Sno, if your up around Osborne Park drop in and see WA suspension.. They are really helpfull and have pics of different commodores with the different springs in them so you will be able to see what kind of difference it will make..
I know that when I was there Lows dropped execs to FE2. Sports Low dropped it an extra inch past FE2, then Super lows, another inch again... I went the Sports Low to keep it legal, and the lowest part of my car is 11cm off the ground..
Boyz and Girls I finally saved some dough to get my ride lowered. After a S#@$ load of reading I've decided to go King springs; Super low in the front and Ultra low in the rear. Any advice would be great before I go and burn a hole in my wallet??? Advice on what shocks I would need and should I go Ultra low or Super low in the rear would be much appreciated??? I'm looking at spending around 1G
Cheers
