Doesn't it mean there is something wrong with the airbag system?

    Go get it checked.

It needs to go to a dealer for them to have a look at it..

People often put things in the space between the seat and the centre consol and not realise that there are airbag sensors down their on the seat rails...

You may have knocked a sensor but once they trigger the car doesn't want to let it go.. A dealer should be able to suss it out..

Yes, it means that a fault has been logged in the airbag system. Unfortunately you can't reset the codes yourself. A dealer will be able to grab the fault codes for you. But if you have an aversion to dealers any competent mechanic who embraces technology can check it for you - give them a call first to find out if they've got the right scan gear to check for fault codes. Sometimes it will be a minor glitch and resetting the codes does the trick, other times it will be a genuine fault and a component will need replacing. The red light and the beeping does send you batty!!

I agree, you need to get it checked with a scanner. I had the same problem and was convinced that I would be able to fix it or that it was simply the connectors between the front seats. Unfortunately I was proved wrong (yet again!) and it turned out to be a faulty drivers side air bag which needed replacing. I think this cost me $200 for a new one - but at least that annoying alarm went away!
