HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just bought a white 2002 VX Commodore Acclaim S2 about 1 month ago. There's a pic of it attached. Has tinted windows, 17" vx ss rims and done 100000km.
My brother's mate has decided to sell his black 2002 VX S2 Commodore - SS pack. Done 130000km, has tinted windows, and is lowered.
Now, he is willing to trade/swap cars and will let me keep my 17" VX SS rims. Is this a good deal considering I paid $16,500 and he only wants $15000. Still sounds good to me but what do u think? Also what will insurance be like considering I'm 18 and on my P's???
Need advice ASAP as I need to let him know by the end of this week.

An SS pack? gawd.
Just curious, why would you keep your wheels if he is selling an SS? The wheels are exactly the same lol. Secondly, check out insurance price's. 15k for a Series 2 VX SS is dirt cheap and i wouldnt even hesitate in swapping....
but it could have been flogged.
i have a mate with a 2002 ss with 68000 and the car is stuff it has been flogged hard.
so i would suss that out.
oh and have you seem the prices of fuel these days?
minux i'm swapping wheels cause he's got 16" and I got 17". And yeh I do need to check insurance? Don't think the car would've been flogged to hard but I'm curious to find out
might be worth checking out the power to weight ratio restrictions for P platers in your state aswel.
if we're talking about an actual SS with a V8 then swap it for sure. insurance will be astronomical, of course. but if it's just an S pack with a V6 then i wouldn't bother, you'd be better off sticking with the car you already know and trust. it may very well have been totally flogged, and at the end of the day its not going to go any faster

What motor is under the bonnet?
It's probably an S with SS kit, if it has 16's.
18yo on P's with an SS - check power:weight ratios for your state to see if you are even allowed to drive it, also insurance will be very very scary, expect $3K+.
If it's an S, I don't see there will be much difference with what you have already, except the kit.
Also obviously get the donk checked out regardless of what it is.
Driving a CURSED WH V6.
the kit on an ss is the same as an s pack!
the only difference in kits is that the ss came standard with the fog lights, where as the s pack had them as an option (just came with holes in the body kit if no lights ordered), and obviously the black headlights on the ss.
they look the same otherwise... apart from the SS and V8 badges on the sides and back.
hmm - me thinks you made a typo and mean S pack?
ive got one myself and the insurance really isn't that much more than a stock commodore. but the insurance will skyrocket if it's the supercharged vx-s on your p plates - even more so if you're a first-car buyer with no no-claim-discount built up.
So Ruso, is it an S pac or an SS???
V8 all the way!!!
Sorry all must of made a typo - It is a VXS with a SS Pak. My bad.
Pretty much the only difference is it has a kit and is lowered. I was going to get this done to my acclaim but it would cost alot. Atleast the VXS has already got a kit, is lowered and saves me the hassle of doing it.
hmm.. unless u want the colour id keep ur own - s pack kit is pretty dull, u could get a way classier one - c2r looks good
and lowering yourself u would get a better ride and as low as u want it..
at the end of the day keep ur car cos u kno its in good cond'
Don't bother. Your's has 30000km less than his.
I have a VX II Acclaim too and I wish I had of bought the S-Pac if only for the kit and suspension. Changing the suspension yourself is roughly $1000 (springs and shocks) and the kit would be another $2000 painted (Sports Kit). If you're looking at an aftermarket kit thats at least $3000.
So for $3000-$4000 difference and only 30,000kms, I'd change over. No kit on the base models looks shit IMO, even if it's only the S-Pac kit it looks much better. Black car also, decent trade.. do it!
Still havn't decided wat i want to do??? Going to ring insurance today and see what it will set me back. The only difference is colour and the kit I think I may just keep what I got and be happy.......
Wondering if anyone knows, if I can put fog lights on my standard vx acclaim, where those black plastic things are on the front bar??? Hav to get square ones????

Like I said, it'll be much more expensive buying the kit then trading over cars. If the S-Pac hasn't been flogged do it.. or else let me speak to your mate and let me trade him!
Do both cars have the same options? Like power windows, climate control, traction control, etc?
If it where me i'd stick with the car you already got you could end up with a flogged out shitbox and for what? a kit and lowered.
If your mate is willing to swap so he can sell your car he obviously thinks he has a better chance of selling yours or getting a better price for yours?
I would keep your own car, swapping with friends i've only ever seen troubles lol. but your car mate so your choice![]()
Yes you can put fog lights on you vx. Just need to buy the lights, bezels (spelling) switch and relay. It's a pretty straight forward job all the wiring and mounting holes are already there.Originally Posted by ruso

I'm going to keep my car. Can't be bothered going through all the paper work to change insurance details, rego..etc..........just for an vxs-sspack. Even though I originally wanted this model car, I'm happy with my acclaim and would prefer to put my own kit and get it looking how I want. In time I'll lower it and put a kit on. Thanx for the advice
Ask him if he'll swap me?Melbourne?
