Hi all can some one tell me the difference between a reconditioned engine and a second hand engine. I have to replace my engine and need to make a choice which way to go my car is a V6 VT'S manual commodore any advise would be of help thanks.
hmmm....interesting question. The reco motor comes with at least 12 month warranty. If ya can afford it, get ur motor rebuilt, with most reco motors they have one head from one motor, one head from another, odd pistons, etc.. at least with a rebuild u get quality and a warranty, i can recommend rebuilders in melbs if required. Second hand is pot luck if ya get a goodin or not!
A reconditioned motor usually is a rebuilt one, using second hand parts, wether it be from upgrades etc. Second hands are pot luck to an extent, you can usually pick a dud from the buyer alone. Rebuild is always the best option, but it always the most expensive also.Originally Posted by genIIIbandit
