and you know with the red reflective boot garnish it looks a bit out of sorts

just wonder if anyone has the same style lights but in the red colour like the monaro did in that series

and if so can you post a pic of it for me please

    thanks guys

Why dont you just remove the VT garnish and put in a VX garnish?

I saw a black VT yesterday (stock garnish) with chrome altezza lights. Ugliest thing I've seen in ages. I was going to take a photo but the chick who it belonged to turned up..

You have the choice between a VX garnish or to spray your existing garnish.. If you spray your garnish you will keep your existing boot keyhole, but the VX garnish's do not have a keyhole, so you'll have to use your boot button..

Does anyone actually use the key to open the boot anyways? I always use my keyhead button.

VX garnish is about $120 from holden new plus paint.
if you paint existing garnish it will look ok from far but from close you will see the lines around the reverse bits because of the small lines and no matter how good you bog it up it will still show.

i am putting the black hsv monaro lights on my VT but putting VX garnish on. Due to my subs being mounted against my back seats i cant get to the emergency release for the boot therefore i will have to get the panel beater to drill a hole in the VX garnish for the key otherwise if my electronic locks stuffs there is no way in

I used to use mine once every pancake day , otherwise you don't necessarily need it.Truth be told , the VX garinsh looks much better than the painted over VT garnish.

Just one thing to remember if you fit the vx garnish is that you have rewire the reverse light on the left. The vt wire is to short.Heres a pic of mine with the vx garnish & manaro chrome lights. Looks heaps better than the stanard vt garnish.I would change it but thats mine choice up to you.

    Cheers

I've gone off the monaro lights eh - every second commodore has them now. Currently looking at some R8 or calais lights and garnish

I think anyone who gets the monaro style lights on their vt and doesn't change the garnish to match needs some sense smacked into them!

Even painting over the vt garnish looks dodgy because the lines around the reverse lights always show through.

In my opinion your best option is to get a vx garnish to go along with the lights.

Here's a pic of mine - Couldn't be happier with the loook

ive got a vt berlina, and theres the brake light inside the garnish, which was only on the berlina's and calais's
but want to get some differnt looking tail light to the standard ones,
which most proably means changing both the garnish and lights
but dont know if its a good idea or not...??

One important thing to remember is the red reflectors that EVERY car on the road MUST have to comply with Australian law.

The VX has them in the lower rear bumber whereas the VT has them in the tail lights. Swap the tail lights on your VT to lights without reflectors and replace the rear garnish with a VX one and your car is going to be un-roadworthy...

Don't worry about the car being unroadworthy because the aftermarket lights such as these have the red reflector in the centre of the brake light
