There's millions of them out there..
Any opinions? Are these likely to burn out the lenses or wiring?
I wouldn't mind upgrading to a set of these, it's only $15 or so..

I no if your after the ultra bright blue tinge globes you shouldnt waste your money. A friend of mine has them and after a couple o months the gas burns up and your left with a bad diminished lighting spread and a really bad colour.
If all you're after is brightness to improve visability my Narva 50+ are excellent doubled my light output, but that was compared to a 93 magna's stock bulbs, commo prob different
Narva 50's fixed my commo. The originals were barely working. They are now good, but I'm thinking of spraying chrome paint inside the headlight to increase its reflectiveness (phew!)Originally Posted by mirlin

Ah, nothing like a Datsun 120 WHY!
I used the ebay globes and melted a hole through the top of my factory headlight and stuffed the lens i now use the narva ones with no problem .

Shounak exactly...."You get what you paid for"..........
You would be better off looking at these

There around $40-$50. Low/High beam and High beam insert.
Better buying good quality globes that will not cause problem later on.
I use phillips Blue Vision and although the name implies that they might be blue they arent. they are a nice bright white. best globes i have used. never used the narva ones but i know narva is a good brand for lights, globes, etc so cant go wrong.
Halogen globes will always produce a white/yellow light.
With globes such as the Narva Artic Blue and Phillips Blue vision they use a blue filter (inside the bulb) which actually clarifize the light and produces a cleaner whiter light.
If you want that blue light like you see on BMW's etc. you will have to convert them to HID's. High Intensity Discharged light are expensive and produce alot better/brighter light than Halogen lights.
Even the projector style lights On VZ Berlina/calais aren't HID's ,maybe Holden will bring them out on the VE.....![]()
I bought some Autotecnia globes from Supercheap um $24.95 super halogen or something, mabye they will burn holes in the light housing? Will the Narva super 50's be better? If i do get Narvas, should i get the artic blue editions?
plus 50's are better than the arctic blues, arctic blue ones just look pretty
Hey Shounak, I bought these exact globes off ebay myself, thought i couldn't go to wrong for $15 all up... I got them and they're ok, theres no definate beam from them and it just sort of makes everything glow (like you've got really strong parkers) i had them in for about a month and realised i couldn't see jack so i put the stock ones in and they seem awesome in comparison. hehehe but yeah i wouldn't waste my money on them again...
I pity those poor suckers on the freeway. Gas, brake, honk. Gas, brake, honk. Honk, honk, punch. Gas, gas gas!
Thanks mate. I'll give these a miss then and just buy a set of Narva 50's or whatever when one of my headlights blow..
Probably earlier, I'll see..
Cheers
its a pity that the HID conversion kit from narva isnt street legal.... would be nuts if it was, but i would still give it a go cos it snot like they are going to pull you up and check what bulbs you have in your headlights....![]()
I wouldn't be the least bit worried abot cops.. Worst comes to worst, just pull em out and put stockies back in..
Insurance, if you get into an accident and it's towed away and your car has an aftermarket mod which breaches ADR's, that could screw you up.. Badly..
youve got a coulple of days b4 they tow it away for auctions tho..... i still dont know why they arent ADR approve since they do help your vision at night time![]()
Probably dazzling other drivers..
BTW, I didn't tell insurance about the headlights on my car. When I crashed it (rear ended someone lightly), two of the headlight clips broke.. So I couldn't pull em out either and replace em with stockies..
Shitl ike that does happen, luckily insuracnce couldn't care less aboutt that, but who knows..
I personally wouldn't do it, although I'd do the globes..
I've been using the HID-Look bulb for about 4 years and my experience is you don't see the road clear enough (especially in the highway). If you only drive around in well illuminated street like in city, then go ahead and get one. And Their quality can be very different from brand to brand. my first bulb only last for one year and is very very dim, then my second pair is a lot better (cos they made from japan). Also, if you choose any light below 6000k, then would be better get narva 50+ cos they don't look as white as you want. And their emitted colour could sometime looks dodgy such as white with a bit green or pink. I would recommed to go HID if you could spend a bit more.Originally Posted by Shounak
forgot to mention, I never have problem with police about my light.
I just put Narva Arctic Ice globes in.. Seems like a waste of money.. Can hardly notice a difference..
yeah there wouldnt be much difference because they are crap.Originally Posted by Shounak
you should have used Narva Plus 50 like every one said....50% more light
OR
Phillips BlueVision.
I have the same headlights as yours but for VT and the BlueVisions are awesome
Put a set of Narva +50's in, big difference from stock and they shit all over those crappy Autotechnica ones. I'll be getting Narva from now on.
I was talkin to the Repco guy about plus 50's. He said they would give better vision, but wouldn't look as good.Originally Posted by DeanoVT

And TBH, I don't need better vision. 99% of my driving is in places that are very well lit. I'm a city slicker..
BTW, for some reason my projector headlights use H1 globes for high and low beam. Weird..
But with these globes, I can see the light is a lot whiter and my vision has improved a bit. It's not a complete waste, but there's no hint of blue. Despite the Arctic Blue moniker..
As for changing globes to get a "nice appearance" (which kinda confuses me, as you yourself can't see what your headlights look like from inside the car...) I saw a very intesting lighting effect on a late model Honda Civic with the body kit and all that schmaltz a week or two back.
I was cruising along slowly up the main street (and I mean slowly...we were in our Morris Minor...) and I saw this Civic coming from the other way, and it's headlights were green...and I don't mean that blue-in-the-distance-but-white-close-up as you see with modern cars, I mean they were definately green tinted, and nowhere near as bright as normal headlights. I've seen them advertised in green, yellow, and blue tint, labelled clearly "for show only, not for on-road use".
Anyway, as soon as I had seen this amazing green light display, I saw an amazing display of flashing blue lights to accompany and set off nicely the green lights...a cop car pulled them over and I can only imagine the result...![]()

Yeah, like making your headlights dimmer and less efficient is a good road safety move, just to have a pretty color that only other people can see...:b:
Most car stuff is for other people to see. I didn't buy my rims, shortned springs, head and tail lights to look at whilst I'm driving.
Getting prettier globes is probably the most functional of my car mods.
I've now got better vision then I had before and they look a whole lot better. It's a win win situation for me..
