Hi Guys,

How do i check a VT for error codes?? I know how to do a VS but have never done a VT before. I already have a list of all the codes for a VT but i need to know how to read them out of the car.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Thanks,

Scott

Have given this info before, only a couple of weeks ago I think.....from memory jump pins 5 and 6 on the diagnostic connector. Turn ignition to ON and this should give you the codes as a series of short and long flashes.

To wipe the info disconnect the battery for 10 seconds.

Diagnostic plug under steering column. top row 1->8 lower row 9->16

hope this helps regards Guy

The following will not show that way

fault codes

12 rpm detection
16 coolant
17 powertrain module (pcm)
76 ""
78 ""
91 ""
93 ""
18 egr
29 ""
23 Air intake sensor
25 ""
26 ""
35 Idle speed
36 vacuum sensor
43 knock sensor
47 crankshaft sensor
48 camshaft sensor
49 ""
57 fuel injector voltage sensor
85 trans sensor
92 low fan sense
94 manual trans speedo sensor
96 A/c pressure switch
97 purge canister

All of these require the correct gear to get the codes!!!

Failing that the PCM is the most likely fault if there is no code given.....like my kids they never blame themselves!!!

Regards Guy.

Thanks for that info again guy,

I guess i should explain why i needed to check for error codes,
My friend called me on Saturday and said to me - I was trying to install an amp into my car, and i needed to get wires through the firewall so i thought i would drill a hole. Little did he know where he drilled the hole there was the wiring loom for the computer. Big Mistake!!! as we all know!

I explained to him that there was no need to drill a hole at all, there are removable gromets in the firewall...

Anyway to cut a long story short, i spent an hour on Sunday soldering and repairing his wiring loom. And when we started the car, the engine light was still on. Turned out that he had drilled through another wire... All fixed now

Thanks again Guy,

Regards...

Scott

Error 12 will definatly show up, as will 92. Not sure where you got this list from.

Talk about digging up an old and very dead thread.
