Question What to look for when buying a VT II SS

    Hi,

Just looking for some general advice for a realtively newbie buyer.

    I've read this page:
    http://au.geocities.com/commodoretech/vtfaults.html

But this list seems a bit extensive, I was wondering what should I be looking for when looking to buy a VT II SS?

Also how can I tell if it has debt oweing on it, is stolen or similar?

And what's a good company to get a loan through and what type of loan, i've been told a personal loan is best, since car loans often aren't as cheap and flexible?

And what's a good company to get insurance through? I'm 21 male caused no accidents, had my full license for ages and have my motorbike license, if that counts at all.

Any input would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Uriah

Also where's a good place to look for something stock standard and reasonably well looked after, but keeping within 14k AUD.

You will be hard pressed to find a nice stock VT SS for 14k, even more hard pressed to find someone to insure you.

Thing to look out for mainly in the Gen3 is the piston slap issue they have, always be sure you can get their to cold start the car.

Apart fromt hat the other page summarises everything

By cold start, do you mean the engine must be cold, or that it just has to be off?

I'll be getting a RAA 100 point inspection, that should cover most, right?

I've seen a few VT II SS's for 14k in SA private sale in the trading past, so hopefully it's not that rare.

I mean dead cold start. No prior running overnight etc.
