Just wanted people thoughts on lowering i have bought a set of 19's for my car i was looking at getting it lowered
is this a difficult process and if i was to do it myself how long would it take
just looking at the threads now with my car been an s-pack it comes with FE2 suspension....
what items would i need to have it lowered and then i would get someone to do it for me cheap
my vehicle has done just over 140,000 clicks also
all feedback would be great

Well it is not an easy job especially if you don't know how to do it. The front more so than the rear. You will need spring compressors for the front and you have to remove the struts to do it. If you are pretty mechanically minded it is not too difficult, but if not your better off getting it done to avoid any problems.
yeah i noticed that in other posts
just keen to know what items i require to purchase to have somebody do it for me
You need the lowered springs, which I don't know too much about but I'm sure others will give plenty of advice about what type you need. Since your car has done 140.000 kms, you should also change the shockies unless they have already been done.
i have been able to get a quote and the best one is $440 and it would be lowered 25mm
is that a relatively good price?
you need front and rear springs. King Springs or Lovells
If you havent changed your shocks then get some new ones as well but if your gonna lower it SuperLow or more then it is advised to get new shorter shocks.
you will also need to get 4 wheel alignment done once it is all in.
if you want to have a practical setup and not scrap most of the time then go with Low (30mm) front and SuperLow (50mm) at rear.
i have that setup and suits my everyday driving good.
if you go lower you might have scraping issues because of the S pack kit on it.
yeah i wasnt going to look at getting it super low been an s pac with fe2 already yeah im gonna have to have the shockys looked at because i only want to get basic lowered cheap as chips
how much would springs cost all up?
The springs should only cost you around $300 for the set. I wouldn't change the shocks unless you go lower than superlows. With superlows the rear springs will still stay trapped. If you want some superlow rear springs I have some that I used for about 2 weeks because I went lower.
There not hard to change. The rears only take about 15mins, just make sure the handbrake is off to make it allot easier. The fronts are a bit harder, might be better to get someone else to do them if you don't know what your doing.
if you plain to have people in the back i wouldnt go to superlows in the rear as i have lows in my vt and it scraps badly when people are in the back
If the car has done 140,000 Kms and they are the original shocks it would be wise to change them while you've got everything apart.Originally Posted by glen_56

Yeah it would be a good idea to. I got the impression that he wanted to do it cheap.Originally Posted by accentstencil
I probably should have worded it differently.Originally Posted by andy87
my VX is standard but is already wearing tyres on the inside..... if you already havent got a 4 point camber - caster bush kit fitted.... i would recomend getting a kit fitted.... cost of 2 kits from Repco is about $200 ( you need 2 kits)... you'll need a mechanic or suspension place to fit it... should be 2 to 3 hours labour ($200)... plus 4 wheel alignment ($90)...
okay here are the facts!
i have got a quote for them to lower my car a further 25mm from the fe2
so you can actually have them lowered from the fe2 suspension
which will cost me $440
i dont think i will be getting superlow's because i will have to get shorter shockies or something and then i will have to get new struts well that is what i am told!
from what i am told just getting in lowered may actually provide me with better handling also!
is yours a vt s pack?Originally Posted by DeanoVT
well if i want it done that way i am going to have to ask for a different quote because the guy from the suspension place says he can get it 25mm lower
well if i am going to have superlow (50mm) at rear i am going to have to get shorter shocks then and i dont want to be forking out the $$$
i have been told it will be 25mm lower even though i have fe2 suspension...Originally Posted by glen_56
im thinking for $440 fitted its not a bad price is it?
U should get that checked out mate, ur springs must be made of marshmellow...Originally Posted by Thomo
I got SL front SSSL rear...
Recently i had 4 people in the car, 3 snowboards, 4 bags with clothes n so forth for a 5 day trip and a clab of canadian club and i was STARTING to have problems with driveways and big bumps in the road...
Where u from mate?? sorry to ask if this hsas been covered...Originally Posted by andy87
But i got my setup fitted for 400 bux....
I know its only 40bux difference, but thats a few beers at the pub at the end of the day
im in perth!Originally Posted by Jesterarts
dont think i can get it cheaper anywhere else
but i was thinking if its only going to lower my car 25mm for 440 is it really worth it
i might as well pay the eight hundred mark and get superlows but i have been told superlows will be illegal for me as i have fe2 suspension
at the moment i just dont know what to do!
i am tending towards superlows i am going to have to get it professionaly done
could anyone tell me who has a vx s pac or similar what you require to get it super low
like what brands are good to get and i might get it off ebay and pay somebody to do it for me?
look mate if your in perth just go down to WA Suspensions in Osborne Park and ask them...they will give you straight out honest advice...no bULlSH&T.
there not the cheapest in perth but the best
if you want someone cheaper go to Wilkinson Suspension in bayswater i think.....personally i would stay away coz if they cant wheel align my dads 4wd then i wont let them touch my car.
but its up to you at the end of the day
i tried them they are the cheapest but i al lead to believeif i am only going to lower my car 25mm for 440 is it really worth it?Originally Posted by DeanoVT
ALSO i have been told superlows will be illegal for me as i have fe2 suspension
Basicly I am going to have to go super low!
I need the advice on
What items will i need to complete this?
I think i will have to get shorter shockies If i am going to go super low?
I got a quote for around 800 but that did not include shockies!
Basicly anyone with a vt-vx s pack who has superlows would help?
You have to replace the shocks, or you will have very poor ride quality.Originally Posted by andy87
I got a set of super lows ($280)
KYB AGX fully adjustable shocks retail for $900, but I picked em up cheap through someone who purchased them and no longer wanted to install them.
then you gotta get a 4 point camber kit on top of that $200-300.
You can get a set of monroe shortened shocks for around 350-450 from memory.
I got a quote for shocks, camber kit, springs and installation for $1250 at a reputable suspension place around where I live.
If you want shocks, you wont be looking at anything less than $1100 in all probability.
what is a camber kit?Originally Posted by ProphetVX
what is that needed for?
okay if i have the fe2 suspesnions is that practicly useless meaning i would have to then get shorter shocks? i.e monroe
