Press the traction control button to turn it off. It will stay off until you start your car again.

Yes, the VT Acclaim has traction control and a button. At least mine has.

You can also take the abs / trac fuse out from under the bonnet to disable the system.

I don't see why, tyres do lose traction in 6's and even 4 cylinder vehicles.

Ermm... mine comes in handy... If it were such a waste of time I'd probably be wrapped around a pole or something (and NO, not due to driving like an idiot, I was actually 10ks UNDER the limit at the particular point in time i'm refering too).

Anyways, If your car is fitted with Traction control It will have a button on the left of the gear selector (I think its the left??) And it has T/C written on it.
Press it- Traction control is off and it has a little light on your dash to remind you.
Press it again - Traction is back on, light on dash goes off.
Also, as soon as you turn your car off and then back on, traction is turned back on

I can't really comment as I don't have trac control, but personally if it was fitted,I don't think it would get much use.I supose it would be handy to have though.

Trac control is very very handy, try driving my car in the wet, without TC it is a nightmare.

I'd imagine in a V8 it would'nt be hard to loose traction at the best of times.

Now imagine that standard V8 with almost twice as much power as standard at the rear treads...get my point?

TC can be very handy overall.

Mate,it's not hard to loose traction in anything in the wet,Hell,my self-propelled mower can loose traction if prompted.Traction control in my car however ,as you pointed out ,is ludicrous.

Traction control is a bit like ABS, it's not something that gets used every day but it's there for those unforeseen emergencies that happen occasionally like, extra slippery conditions, oil, ice, gravel etc. They may never be used.

It's not really designed for take offs, as that's not usually a dangerous situation. It's for those times when you might tramp the right foot too hard when already moving as it prevents the arse slipping out, especially on corners. And yes, it does work on V6s.

Traction Control is good but sometimes it can actually be dangerous.
EG. When turning Left onto a busy road. You Accelerate and turn and the wheels spin slightly and then traction controll kicks in and the car dies. Meanwhile the cars that are coming towards you are all slamming there brakes on because your trying to build up speed after the T/C made your car die in its ass.

Otherwise it is great to have.
