Default In "D", no power, as if in Neutral?

Had some trouble with my VT last week.

I was at the lights, i go to accelerate, no power. It wouldn't go, as if in neutral, i see that i am not in neutral.... a few seconds later with heavy pedal pushing, and then took off very sluggishly as if in a 4 cylinder .

... (got pulled over by the cops because they were behind me ), happens again when I tried to drive away, turn off engine, same problem on start up.
Then worked fine later on. No idea, haven't driven my car.. until tomorrow when I get home, before I left it, it was fine.

Any Ideas as to what that might have been? I haven't checked my transmission fluid... so is there a possibility of that? I was also on a bit less than a quarter fuel. Car drove fine the next day with low fuel... hmmm??
Bad, bad, once off luck perhaps?

    Thanks for any help.

not sure Any Mechanic these days should be able to.

Mine does have the tool, Vt's are 10 years old, most mechanics should have the Gm flash tools these days any way.
    Cheers.

if the car isnt moving under revs it is not a fuel problem, it sounds like you need a transmission service, if it were a fuel problem it would off chugged away under minimal throttle.

I agree...if you havent had you transmission serviced then get it looked at by a specialist transmission mechanic...even if your fluid is low it would be a good idea to get this done

i reckon it is the selectors on the gearbox has moved get your mechanic to have a look at that mate because if the gearbox had no oil it would be seized the selectors are a electronic cable hooked up to the side of the gearbox enabing you to tell your gearbox to change gear and also enables you to read your Gears on the tacho thats if you have a model that will let you see it

If the seal on the auto filter is no in correctly it will suck air in with the oil & cause the gears to slip like crazy...

& in some cases i have seen the wrong filter put in & the filter has come loose & fallin into the pan & then the pick up has not had been able 2 pick up oil
