I went to start my VX tonight and it wouldn't turn over - no clicking, no fuel pump - compete silence. But the horn beeps once as I try to start it. I thought it might be a battery - But I had it checked at my last service under 2 months ago and it was fine. The headlights come on and the dash lights up. If it was a flat, would you hear it try and turn over???
I've had a search of the forum and haven't been able to locate any info.
Any ideas?? Do you think it might be a fuse. Its too dark to see tonight.... so it looks like the bus for me in the morning!!!
if its an auto make sure its in park
easy mistake
if it was a battery thing the lights on the dash wouldnt turn on

Could be a blown fuse or fusible link or the immobilizer. Does the security light flash when you are trying to start it?
I know exactly what it is. The ignition barrel is rooted. I've just had the same problem the other week. I thought it was the battery but then i replaced that. Still the same problem. Called Holden, they identified the problem and all sorted. The inside of the ignition barrel had snapped from the inside; thus the reason why the key wouldnt "lock" in when I tried to turn the car over.
