    Default Safe Mode?

Hi guys, just took the old mans VT V6 out for a swing. When I punched it to the point it should have left lines it died then picked the revs right up out of no-where, almost as though it wasn't getting fuel. When I looked down at the dash I seen the Engine Light was on, it's not due for a service for another 15,000km's. Just wondering if theres a safe mode that the computer goes into or something along those lines?

    Thanks, Jay

Mine when given a bit of a push seems to do nothing for a second or two and then rev right up, but no engine light

    But wait... There's more!!

Yeah, It's going into DynoTune on Monday morning so hopefully all will be fixed. We know there are a few sensors that are fried but its the first time its ever died in the ass like that

Turns out its one of 2 thngs (both expensive).

It could be either the CPU or the Wiring Loom.

So whats each worth roughly if anyone knows?

wtf, that seems like a ridicuolous diagnosis, a new loom or cpu lol. right.

So what was the fault code from when the engine warning light came on? I'd get a second opinion.

Couldn't tell you the code off hand. The Invoice is in the car which is at another workshop. The TPS was replaced about 1000km ago and they told us the first time (Monday just gone) the switch was sticking. Took it back on Thursday and thats when they said it was either a CPU or Wiring Harness.

I don't think these guys would screw us over because I know the guy that owns it and his missus really well and I went to school with one of the mechanics aswell.

Anywho its over at another Workshop today for a seond opinion but Dad doesn't think its going to differ.

So whats a new CPU going to cost?

Also talking to one of the Auto-Electricians lastnight and he said if it is Wiring Harness I'd be better off leaving it with him for a week or so and he'll find the wire/s that are faulty and re-run them. He thinks this would be alot cheaper.

get a second opinion as you have done...maybe even a third opinion coz the CPU or Wiring loom being the problem seem like a joke....
maybe the BCM is stuffed but it wouldnt die like that all of a sudden.

I think the CPU is quite expensive, around $700 I think. I could be completely wrong. The best thing to do is ring Holden and get an exact price.

if the TPS is still causing problems its probably the connector, its common for the terminals in these to stretch, take it to someone who knows what they are doing.
