i think it should be doable, you will just have to use the box lid you have atm...

    I dunno, sounds doable

From memory the gen 3 airbox has an oval hole for the CAI to connect to.
If you cut a hole similar in the VT box it should fit with a few 90deg brackets to hold the pipe inside the airbox.
As for the actual CAI, it should bolt straight inplace of the factory VT cowling or CAI you already have.
I remember i bolted my stepdads factory rediator cowling off his VY SS onto my VT untill i got my SS ind CAI.

    (Another thought)
Id have a good guess that a VX/VY 5.7L airbox will bolt straight into your VT.
Having a look around on K&N filters site, the part number for both V6 3.8 and V8 5.7 is 33-2116 which means your V6 lid will fit on a 5.7 bottom.
I just hope it clips up properly.

there was a post about the FIT CAI intake here recently, and its just a few rubber coolant style pipes sticking out the bottom of the airbox. Much better to go SS inductions or Augner for the money. You can make a FIT style intake for yourself though for less than $30

yeah i'm skeptical about spending 400 ss inductions gear. i actually just knocked up a pvc piping cai and its fine. goes really well. might even get an aunger one too just to step it up a notch. half price off ss, doesnt seem to be that different....

I'm thinking of dropping the bottom half of the Monaro airbox into my WH V6 and fitting in that plastic shroud that fits behind the headlight. Might even go for the big Gen 3 plastic cover that sits over the radiator to box it all in. Hopefully the holes line up in the bottom of the airbox with the metal pegs otherwise I'll be doing some drilling.

Here's a home made one i made for my VT.
Just a bit of plumbers pipe with a 90deg bend in it going into the bottom of the air box.
Cost me around 40 cents in wear and tear on my boots to walk down to a building site
