brake problems

I bought my calais around august last year and have been having a problem with the brakes. When I am braking from high speeds the car fully shudders and the steering wheel bounces around in my hands, it is especially worse if I am braking going down hill. I have had the ABS and Trac lights come on and stay on but this has only been happening periodically within the last 2 months. I have had the brakes looked at and was told the pads were fine, so I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before?

Sounds like a brake disc rotor problem to me. Have the rotors machined & add new brake pads. I would start with the front based on the steering wheel feedback. The other thing I would get checked is all the front suspension & steering bushes. They may be worn out allowing too much play.

Yep, I agree, rotor issue. The Z bar bushes cause a similar problem but check the rotors first.

Your rotor could be warped. Get it machined and while you're at it, replace all your bushes in the front end as you know these cars are like 10 years old.
