Hey blokes, anybody tried using the LED stop/tail lamps that are on the market?
Using the standard lens, how visable are they compared to the old glass bulbs??
Pablo
Well!! it looks as if NO body has used the LED lamps in place of the old fashion incandescant stop/ tail lamps! Looks as if I will be the first. A lot of late model Jap and European Up market vehicles feature these lights as standard. Minimal current draw and last up to 10 times as long is the advantage. Oh, LED is short for Light Emitting Diode.
if ur talking about the LED globes u can buy from dick smith and that, ive heard there not really good, they just emit a light directly infront, it doesnt spread over the whole lense, i was about 2 buy them, though was informed otherwise
T-ROY, good one mate, thanks for the comeback, D.S. were the ones I had in mind,, tho I may still look further as there suitability for my motorcycle rear lamp.
Cheers, Pablo
for tha sake of 20buks u could buy a pair n c how they go, they might refract differently in tha VT lense, as apossed to my VP, cause myne are a longish lense so they just give a direct 'O' Light, but it might spread out good in urs
only 1 way to find out i spose
I have Stop/Tail (red) and turning signal (amber) LEDS on my VR, they have 36leads and fit basically in the original socket. They do spread throughout the lense. I brought them off ebay, they are very static and the colour is great (i.e. red led in red lense look rich red). You need to change the flasher unit.
were do u get a flasher unit from, how much, n were do they go?
i just assumed u would get white LEDs then with tha red lense would b fine, thought red and red would b abit of overkill
