Default electronic gauge- where to splice power from?

Just got a drift boost gauge, ive conneced it all up ect. except the power for the illumination. On the instructions it sais connect red to ignition switch, black to a ground wire, and white to the dimmer/headlights?

Ive got little idea what its on about, but can i just run the red wire to the positive of my cig lighter, and the black to the negative? and just disregard the white one ?

There are dimmer wires that run to the cig lighter any other places, im not sure of the colour on VT/VX but ino my vp's one is brown with white trace.

Have a look for a h/u install insrtuctions, u will find wat colour the wire is that u need for the guage to light up properly.

Just ended up splicing the cig lighter wires, its working all good now, except the wires they gave me with the gauge are a bit on the short side (20cm). I originally wanted to mount it inside my cluster on the left side around where the temp gauge is. I'll keep fiddling around with the wires till i can get it right. Thanks for the help guys
