Post Mods to get 200kw@engine for Vx Ecotec (no forced induction)

I'm intrested to know what modifications I need to get for my SII VX S-Pack manual to achieve 190kw to 200kw at the engine without having to spend a fortune. These were some of the things I had in mind:

    Full exhaust system

SS Inductions (Growler) Cold Air Intake System or FIT type s S/C v6 cold air intake which ever one is better

    Roller Rockers

    Laser Cut Heat Shield

    81°C Cooler Thermostat

you do know there standard to 165kw?

The exhaust alone will free up maybe 10-15.

for starters, deburred plenum (maybe modified plenum) ported intake and matched ported heads for nice free-flowing breath in.. mild to large cam.. bored cylinders couple thou, for deep lungs, then tuned extractors, and 2.5' zhorst, for the breath out.. now if that dont get u close to 190-200rwkw.. ur most likely ur gonna have to stroke it! with a lil of the above

pffft, hahaha, where do you come up with that one??
a VT s-pac with 165kw standard?? try 147kw man.....even up to the VY the most the s-pacs put out was 152kw.

edit - may as well answer the threads question while im at it.
the mods you mention getting would make a very small difference, most gains would come purely from the roller rockers and you might make 160-ish at the fly.
to make 200kw you'd definately need to open up your engine, no amount of bolt-ons will get you there.
id say a good start would be a considerable sized good cam, ported heads and raised compression and a good kalmaker tune. after that you'd be around 180-190kw at the fly, with the rest of your bolt-ons.

The figures i looked at said 165. Obiously being the same as a 5L it'd stick in my head.

380hp shot of NOS, and yes if tuned correctly the engine will last, ive proven this years ago, approx 5 years ago......and still has the original engine still.

the only downfall, is 5 shots out of a bottle, and ur nights over, back to reality 100rwkw.

But it all depends on the budget at hand, and what u want from the car.

Dunno what figures you looked at, but every other figure out states otherwise...147kw at the flywheel for VS/VT, 152kw from VX onwards.

yea they were only 152kw at the fly in the VX. as said, to get those figures out of a VX ecotec, u'd most likely have to poer her up and tinker with its ticker... give it a cam, rolloer rockers, while your at it, full bottom end rebuild aswell

then get your T/B bored out aswell as manifold, custom plenum, iridium plugs, big leads, CAI, K&N, a good flowing exhaust % extractors and u should be at your figure... plus abit more

How much gain can you get from Iridium plus with some 9mm leads?

Also will a bigger TB say a 69mm or sumfin make much difference in power?
I know the throttle will be more responsive but any more ponys?

    Atm i got:
CAI, Headers, 2.5 Zorst, 1.95:1 RR and de-combed MAF.

Im keepin it pretty basic as u can see...

    Next on the list
3.73 LSD, Plugs, Leads n maybe a TB if it makes much difference...

    Cheers

Studies have shown that Iridium plugs help to regain lost hp if your spark system is lacking. In N/A applications, if your coils, leads, and plugs are in tip top condition you wont gain any benifit. This has a lot to do with how spark plugs work and the principle behind iridiums. But as most people like myself have a car with the coils quiet a few km's and years old then you may notice a restore of power, depending on how bad it was, of about 3hp.

also think they changed the pcm to something that could process a little bit faster too....or maybe that was the VY - cant remember, somewhere in there they upgraded it.

CAI, full exhaust, Bigger TB and high ratio (1.95:1 or higher) Roller Rockers.... that should have you around the 200kw @ the fly mark...

i thinking of getting a larger tb, and maybe a manifold insultor form mace engineering, i want a different diff to. wats ur thought on these things power wise the tb and insulator r like 180 each or so so its cheap even if it doesnt really make much difference

    maybe at the fly.
but if your talking actual kilowattage that u can feel
when u stick ur foot down on the pedal,
ur only guna feel the 120/ or so kw thats at the wheels after a bit of works been done.
theres a whole bunch of dudes here with similar mods,CAI,K&N's,hi-ratio-rockers,exhaust,that rarely pull over 120-130rwkw.

but hey if you dont care about petrol
    go cam.
make it sound heaps better also.

if you're off your P's why not just go for an LS1? VT series 2 were 220kw stock, so about 180rwkw with no money spent other than the purchase price. they're getting cheaper every day!
