    hey all,
can anyone please post pics of their pod filter in their V6. i am looking at putting one in with a home made CAI.
and also, can you put a pod filter in the original air intake box? will it fit?

The only reason i would make a pod fit in the original box would be if u didnt want to spend the 90-100 on a k&n Panel filter.

There is a "how to pod in air box" in the how to section.

But i would just get the panel high flow filter, less muckin around, and looks stock.

Panel filter lets off a lil bit of a suckin noise, but no where near wat the pod makes, i wouldnt call it a cool sound more annoying after a while.

with the panel filter that makes a bit of a sucking noise, is that the k&n one?? if you put a bigger CAI would that make more of a sucking noise with the k&n filter?

Yeah, but it dont make much difference to the noise. Fuel ecconomy will drop by bout 2L/100km

There are sum that will fit in the box, but then gettin it to connect up to the piping is another storey.

You wil have to cut ur box apart to get it to work, then if u do ever get sick of it ur left with a cut up box.

I would just go get the K&N one, better in the long run in my opinion

if the pod filters make a louder sucking noise, shouldn't that mean they are sucking in more air

    Correct if im wrong.
The only reason pods are louder is that they have a larger surface area.
And the fact is the pod will FLOW more air then a panel filter but your engine can only suck in a certain amount of air per min anyway, regardless of how high-flow your filter is.
Pods give you better throttle response though.
    cheers

Wouldn't getting a pod mean u are just sucking in the hot air created by the engine? Although pods can sound kinda cool i reacon get the panel, i did for my vt and she goes sweet.

They make noise cos they have nothing to stop them....

An air box is just as much for cold air as what it is 4 noise suppression....

There is a legal limit on noise pollution set by the EPA that Manufacturers have to follow....

And a Panel filter in a VX would prolly have more surface area that a standard size pod filter

Any mod could if ur insurance company dont know about it....

I dont think an airbox with a hole cut in it would void it tho i could be wrong....

Completely agree... Mod the air box and get a K&N or similar... The pod may sound better but id rather be sucking enough cold air than lots of hot air.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]I'd rather be blown..otherwise you suck!

Hey I've replaced my stock panel filter with a pod filter and i think its a great cheap mod, ive just got the stock top end of the box taken off and the pod filter sitting behind it(between the suspension and cai) so it still benefiets from the cold air flowing through.. it reads better fuel economy and gets better throttle response.(The POD's just a cheapy from super cheap and bolts straight on the the stock pipes) Makes a nice induction hiss too

ohhh good one dude, would i be able to trouble you to take a photo of it for me and post it up. was there any other mod done to the pipe so the pod can fit or was it just put on with ease and no fuss?

nahh man, there nothing more u have to do with the piping to make it fit. as long as the filters the right size it will pretty much just bolt on.

I found out the stock induction pipe isnt as long as i thought so im stuck with mounting it behind the air box as u can see here....

See the only prob with that is the exhaust aint that far away & when the bonnet is closed there will be more that enough heat 2 hinder performance

lordey lou.....pods dont do their job unless they are properly enclosed, simple. It may work at the moment, but very soon that filter is going to be clogged with all sorts of crap, same as if you take the bottom off your airbox, lackerband the filter t othe top section, and drive around.

Im sorry to burst you bubble here. If you are still set on a POD, look to proper shielding, like thrashers setup, or a K&N apollo.

The last intake With a POD i done 4 my bro in his Suzuki Baleno & i wouldnt do it 4 him untill i got what i wanted made...

from the T/B the was a heat wraped intake pipe that went 2 where the air box was & the it bent down & was inside the bumper & the inner guard nowhere near the engine bay.... if u wanna do that go 4 it but thats the only way 2 do it

& after that was done with the extractors, cat, 2 1/4 exhaust & tunable memcal he was eating stock 5ltr commodores
