i think it is called the plenum ? not reali sure but its the aluminium cover that the engine cover bolts onto i think it is held on buy 4 allen keys or sumfen , well my question is how do people polish it to get that shiny aluminum look ?
high grit, 800-1000 wet and dry sand paper.... followed by cutting and polishing. over and over again
then after that i'd use a good qaulity metal polish like autosol it works great
IMO its not worth the effort. Take the cover and get that painted by a pro and i reckon it looks heaps better. I LOVE AUTOSOL brings up everything shiny hmmmm might go do my rims hahah

Why not just follow the How-To; 'Polishing the plenum on your Ecotec'?
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
Awsome Thread Dig 4 yrs. Seek and you shall find. Polishing the plenum on your ecotec .
HA HA, I never even noticed the age of the thread! Maybe that How-To didn't exist then......LOL
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
lol why do people go so far back?
Go to bunnings and get a Josco buffing wheel and a rough wheel set with a matching drill bit, then get some Josco cutting compound and some compound polish the green one is good. You will save hours off the time it takes to polish the plenum as opposed to sanding by hand, the drill does all the work.
Better yet if you have a bench grinder get a larger buffing wheel and use that instead.
