had a similar problem on the missus VS, new leads/plugs/coils and DFI when it started to happen. always thought it was the converter problem mentioned before. last week, after degreasing engine and hosing down it developed a mis, eventually found a coil pack with a crack in casing coil tested within specs??? put old coil back on and problem hasn't returned yet. it seems to have lost some power but i put that down to the old coil i used.

Has anyone actually resolved this problem. It looks as if I'm going to have to take my car into a Holden dealer, can anyone recomend a good honest one in Sydney?

After searching the forums I think I'll try a set of new plugs this weekend even though I've done under 20,000KM on these it's worth a try as it has solved similar problem for many others. What feels like the transmission could actually be an engine miss under load when cruising at highway speeds when the engine is leaned right out.

    Thanks
i was actually after the code on the sticker on the eprom but this will do
if this is the broadcast code displayed on the scan tool it is a S/C memcal & there was no fix released by GM as the TCC release issue didnt show in S/C cars only N/A.
you more than likely have a tracking spark plug, replace the plugs & leads.

Thanks Rob you are right it is S/C, so it looks like I may as well try the plugs next, I was holding off as it really does feel like the transmission and the engine never seems to miss a beat otherwise even under heavy acceleration.

It fixed my problem last time (shaking when under acceleration around 80km/h) with plug/leads change. Definitely look it at it first.

Transmission is starting to shift poorly at times now, even when down shifting, can feel the torque converter locking and unlocking harder or later than it should, I think it's off to Holden this week.

    I think I've got a faulty TCC.

Took the car to Holden today after a quick look they advised me to see a transmission specialist. They agreed it wasn't the engine missing.

Took the Transmission specialist for a drive on the freeway and demonstrated the problem. He said that the valve body wasn't allowing enough fluid through to keep it locked up in top gear. He has advised a valve body kit in which he rheems it to allow more fluid, he reckons this was quite a common problem for a while and he was doing quite a few of these for Holden.

Anyway I have it booked in for Monday $300 for the kit and $300 for labour.

I'm pretty dissapointed though, bought the car brand new and have only done 46,000 easy KM's on it mainly highway driving. I guess I should have done alot more KM's on it when it was still under factory warrenty.

    Hey, all.
Probably not the case here, but I had similar issues with my vs, and the cause was the coolant temp sensor.. car couldn't decide whether or not it had warmed up, causing over fueling at light acceleration..
When accelerating hard from the same point it would kick back a gear and use the fuel anyway..
What sort of economy are you getting? Is it about normal?

    Economy looks normal.

Transmission specialist found sludge in the valve body and replaced it with a reconditioned one. I test drove it last night and fault is still there.

They are going to clean my old valve body and fit a solex kit and reinstall tomorrow, they hope this will increase line pressure.

I'm going to change plugs tonight as well even though the current one's aren't that old but one of them could have broken down.

Failing all this they are suggesting pulling the box down to look at the tourque converter there may have been a fault there from day one which has shown up now. Remember I have had this car since new and only done an easy 47,000 KM.
