Default Check power train light - common problems???

    Hi Guys,

I drive a VT2 with GEN 3 and six speed manual.

Just recently the "Check Powertrain" light, the one with the pic of the engine and lightning bolt in it came on and now does so every time you start the car and stays on.

Just wondering what the common faults are that cause this light to come on and who is the best person to take it to if it needs to be plugged into a computer(in Sydney).

The car still feels to be driving fine.

    Thanks

I would try disconecting the battery first and see if that clears the code had it a few times in my gen3 even though its a auto.

Mine for some reason would not getting into 4th gear and was stuck in 3 and the light come on went home pulled the battery off and the light didnt come back on and it now drives great and even gets into 4th too...

So maybe there are some codes that can be cleared by disconecting the battery

oil pressure sensor located right at the back of the engine by the firewall, you need a 27mm thin wall deep socket to get it out & replace.

the sensor os apparantly made out of gold.

I have this problem wiht my wh when its running on gas got told it could be the oil sensor which i was quoted for the part close to $200 to replace this is meant to be a common fault in these. Also got told it could be that my gas system makes the car run a bit shaky which sets it off i am getting it all checked out in the next few weeks and will put a post up.
