G'day all,
Have a VT 98 station wagon 50 anversary here.
Starting getting a like rubbing grinding sound coming from the backend
Have taken to a few mates and cvjoint shop & a trans place.
Diagnostics the differential bearings are gone.
Apparently becoming a common problem with VT up or getting over the 200th km mark
Anyway, Which comes to my question.
How hard is it to remove a diff and put another one in.
Planning on getting one from the wrekers which will come out of another VT 98 s/w.
Is there a certain steps or stages to follow on taking these out and putting them back in?
Will everything just line up?
Just don't want to get straight into it not knowing the right way about doing things.
Cheers All
Macka
Hope someone can help..![]()
Change of plan, looks to bloody hard to get to all the bolts,
So have 2 choice
1 I get a diff from a vt thats done 90,000 on the clock in/out for $395.
2. or the one on the car thats done 240,000 get refurbished with new beerings etc. for $400
Whats the better way to go.
And what should I be looking out for.
Cheers again Macka
Based in SA metro, if someone can do it cheaper
get the 240,000 km one recond.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
$400 seems cheap to me - in Sydney the going rate seems to be about $650 to $1000.
Unless some one knows somewhere cheaper (and Good)
i have the same problem with my wagon any one know a good shop in adelaide to go to
