Okay this is a strange one, the other day while driving to work I noticed all my dash lights come on & go off, they were coming on then off, same thing on the way home from work, when I got home I noticed my parkers were on "Seens the light reflect on my fence" but the switch was turned off, I tapped/turned off - on/cursed it! but the parkers & dash light stayed on, then all of a sudden they went off?!?!!? "Some more cursing" then I realised it only happens when I put my foot on the brakes? but at night when I turn on my lights my brake lights stay on?
I have not done any updates to electrics for a long time "Or anything in that matter - apart from some Bob Jane 18" maggies"
Thought it might be the brake switch, but now not sure, feels I will have to find an auto-sparky to have a look, as I have never heard of this problem before?
It's just a guess but there may be a bad earth in the rear of the car. Look at the rear lights. If there is no earth the system will try to use the other wires to seek out a path to earth. Get someone to look at whats happening with the lights from outside the car when you push the brake peddle down. Does it also affect the indicators ?
mine did this a while back. for me it was mixing up the brake/indicator sockets when i replaced all the tail lights

Could also be a broken filament in the globe which has touched the second filament causing the brake and tail light to be on at the same time.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
i also had the same problem however in my VL. CHeck your trailor plug (if you have one). For me someone had wired 2 wires into the same socket in the back of the plug.
IF YOU WANT MORE INCHES, STROKE IT
I cheaked all the earthing the best I could, could not find a thing as it is the 1st thing I thought of & feels it must be the problem, I have not changed the globs, might change them, around on the weekend tho I have not looked at the rear spoiler lights.
The indicaters work fine, & when the lights are on & I push the break pedal, they do brighten just a tad "More like a small pulse". Also I have no trailer plug.
Also this might have something to do with my Alarm, as it has an after market one in there.
Thanks for the tips guys!! I will get to the bottem of this & let you know the problem once found, so after a bit more cursing/dummy spitting I hope to have it fixed.
BINGO!!!passanger tail was the problem, the tail light filament was touching the other!!!!
Nice to have a sunny day to work on the car here Melbourne!!
Also thanks guys for the tips! & burnz & evaN backed up that thought, so I went at it again!
