I think that he is talking about an air horn kit like this, probably with less horns though and doesn't play music:

Most of these kits come with a little compressor. The kit shown above can be brought from here: Car/ Truck Musical Air Horn

as in pic above^ no need for tank. they come with an on-the-go compressor.

also installation wouldnt be too difficult. mount the trumpets and compressor, run hoses from the compressor to trumpets, wire compressor to preferred power source.

They are so easy to install, took half an hour to do one in a mates car, the hardest thing was finding a power source and that was easy anyway.

yes, but propper truck horns arent electric. they are tapped in to the air tank which is used for the air brakes.

There is this website for some mob in the US that sells "Train Horn" setups and they provide EVERYTHING in a kit for you.

Its a proper air horn setup with compressor and seperate air tank. Those 'on-the-go' ones wouldn't compare to a setup like theirs!

Visit their website at HornBlasters Train Air Horns. The Loudest Train Horns Around! Best Air Horns You Can Buy! and watch their videos. Funny ****.

I have a 140dB Nautilus Air Horn. It was designed for motorbikes, so it's small enough to exactly bolt into where my existing horn was and even wires in the exact same way.

It's not exactly a truck horn, but it's pretty damn loud. And there's wiring already there for a second horn on the passenger side, in case you don't already have a horn.

So if you mount two of those babies, you WILL be heard.

Nautilus Stebel Air Horn. You can buy them from some autoparts shops or eBay. The place on the corner of North and East Boundary Rds has them. Eastern Auto parts or something.

no doubt he's got a propper compressor and tank setup running at 60psi. but seriously for an everyday car why would you go this far? unless your gonna run it seperate to the stock horn and use it just for fun like scaring the crap out of pedestrians for example

Wrong country, we dont have fast and slow lanes, both have the same speed limit.
Depending on posted speed limit, right lane on freeway is only for overtaking vehicles in the left lane that are going slower than the posted limit. Sorry to thread steal!

Regarding the truck horn.......I didnt think it was legal to put something so loud in a car; as its use as a warning device may not be effective as it may stun the recipient into a state of shock, rather than alert them, as well as urban noise requirements etc....not sure why it is legal in a truck to be that loud(maybe its a size thing).

because its a way for a truck driver to say "GET THE F*CK OUTTA MY WAY OR YOURS CARS GONNA GET TOTALED" effectively

    irrelevant for small cars

There are some people who love sitting in the overtaking lane doing 90kmh in a 100 zone.

Even after flashing the high beams and honking your horn... do they move... NO WAY! That is when I would flick the switch from STOCK HORN to MEGA ****ING LOUD AIR HORN!!!

I do understand your point about the horn being primarily used as a warning device but in my experiences when I have used my horn in such circumstances the other driver appears to be in some sort of 'wonderland' and pay no attention to it.

My point exactly thats one thing that gets me p***ed, apparently it is legal to have the truck horn in the car as long as it does not play a melody according to a sargent at glen waverly police station :P

I got defected when i had the air horns on the VQII but the horns werent a problem as they werent musical. He asked are they musical horns, I said no and he went no worries and just defected me for what he pulled me over for without even checking the horn.
