I've noticed this seems to be fairly mainstream on VT's with an ecotech engine, when they idle a rattle starts, I cant seems to find the cause. I dont think its a problem, it just sounds bad. If anyone has been able to identify the cause I'd love to know, thanks.
Dan
have u had the pullys and timing belts checked?
Hey, thanks for the reply. Yeah they were checked last time I had a service. and they were fine I assume as they didnt say anything about them.
Commodores don't have a timing belt, they have a timing chain which can make a rattling noise when worn (stretched). This is not something that would be checked while the car is being serviced. How may kilometers has the car done?
Apart from that the rattle could be any number of things that have come loose. Do you have any idea which area the rattle is coming from?
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
This might be the cause to my problem at the moment, I have a VX S2 SS, when the car is cold there is a usually a rattle coming from it, I was think pulley or belts, seems most noticeable at low revs and comes from the front. Does this sound right?
has been getting worse over time.
