Default VT power mode on permanently

The power mode on my VT Executive auto seems to be stuck on. Doing 100kph this means the revs are at about 2700 rather than 2000 or so. Flicking the power switch doesn't achieve anything.

This happened twice before. The first time, when I turned the engine off and on again, it seemed to reset itself. The second time my mechanic reset the engine computer, which fixed the problem.

What could cause this? and can I somehow fix it myself? for example, is there a way for an amateur to reset the computer?

You can reset it yourself by disconnecting the negative battery terminal for about a minute. You will need to enter your radio PIN ( if you have the stock radio) when you reconnect your battery. You should have the car checked to see what is causing the problem.

My guess is that the switch itself is the most likely cause. It's worth a look anyway.

power mode shouldnt effect it once you are cruising at 100
i thought it only altered the shifts points while you are accelerating
once your cruising at a speed shouldnt it bang back to fourth
well mine does anyway, with power mode on
