Thinking of buying a VT
I currently drive a VS exec, and it's getting a little old for me, little things going wrong here and there and I just can't be bothered with it anymore, not to mention I'm VERY bored with it.
I've found a "97 VT S pack, 5 speed manual. It's at a dealer and they're asking $8,999. I just wanna know if that's a reasonable price? I'd obviously try and get the price down as low as possible though, and would just like to know what a good price for it might be.
I've done a few searches on various car sales websites to try and get an idea of what they're going for, but the 5 speed manuals seem to be rare so I can't find any others to get an idea off. If I decide to buy it, I don't wanna get ripped, obviously. So what's your guys opinions?
Car is clean, very clean, although 2 rims are missing centre caps (not too much of a worry for me). Mechanically, I'm not sure of the condition, haven't seen it, and not sure of it's km's, but that's something I'd look at of course.
So what do you guys think? Go for it or just stick with the VS?
EDIT:
Just thought that while I'm here I'd ask... what are differences between the S pack and lower model/s (exec)? Searched but can't find anything.

Like I said, I don't know how many km's it's done, the web advert doesn't mention it anywhere, but I'll definitely check it out when I get a chance. Probably call them in the morning.

Well honestly I was not even thinking about buying a new car seriously until tonight. I've been looking around at cars over the last week or so for my ex, and while doing so I've toyed with the idea of getting myself something different. Came across this VT tonight and thought yes, I've always loved the look of the VT-VX's, been wanting a manual for ages but you never really come across many manual commodores (unless you want a ute). Did a quick search for car finance calculators and realised I can easily afford this.
If I could get it down to 7000 I'd happily take it. I got a couple grand that could go towards it right now, another few grand would go back into it once I sell the VS and the other 2000 could easily be paid off within a year.
May even ask the olds if they feel like lending me some money save on interest and various fees then.

Just gave them a call, it's got a little under 240,000km's on the clock. K's are pretty high, I found the eBay one and it's done 220,000km.
What do you guys think? Try and get it down to $7000? Buying the one from the dealer gets me 1 year warranty with road side assist as well.

Hubby's 97 VT has done 170,000kms, you can find em lower. You said your VS is getting a little "old" for you so find something "newer" (98-99) so your not waisting your money. The VS isn't really that much older then a 97 VT.

Yeah that's true. I wouldn't be able to able to afford much more than that though, which is why the VT is so appealing.
Anyway after talking to my mum I think I've changed my mind all together. I don't need a new car, I've already got one that does the job, and that money could be put to better use (ie. put it towards a house). Still gonna have the VS looked at cos it's giving me headaches with these little problems, and if it's gonna cost too much to repair then I'll consider upgrading again.

with 240K on the clock i rekon u could go as low as $6000 depending on the condition of the rest of the car then take it 4 a test drive n see wat u think then but definatly have a look as some others aswell and compare how each drive.

If you buy a high km vt, you may run into problems like the vs. So try getting one under 200,000kms if you decide to buy it.
