Yeah, some locksmiths can do it, but failing that, Holden don't charge that much.

It's only a 10 minute job, if you have both keys, and an existing working remote.

Same problem here, rubber split and fell off where I press the soft touch button.
I was not going to pay for a new head through a 'design fault', so I carefully cut around the soft button rubber top with a hobby knife, removing it flush with the hard plastic rebate, then I got a piece off neoprene insertion rubber about ( 1/16") 1.5 mm thick, cut it to the outside shape of the depression so as to cover the hole, super glued a little rubber pad, (the bit that presses on the micro switch), on the under side of the new cover then CAREFULLY glued the new pad in place over the hole, when dry, I then trimmed off the raised edge of pad to blend in with the plastic head.
Simple,!!! just took a little time making sure it was going to work before the final glue up, and it works a treat.
This bloody throw away attitude, engineered by the manufacturers, is not going to beat me.........yet!!!

If you're a regular customer to a particular holden dealership go there... they should be polite and do it free of charge (the good toyota dealerships do). Other than that it would be something like $25 per key.

Or get it done at the next service. If you get it serviced at Holden they should throw in the coding for free.

Alternatively you can repair it as Pablo said.
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere

That sure is a rip off. Where did you get that quote?
A lot of the bigger key cutting places can supply and program them. Also, they are cheap on ebay and you can get it programmed at Holden. Different Holden places have different prices.
