    Default Future VX

Hey guys im 15 (16 this year) and ill be on my L's. My future plans are to buy a Holden Commodore VX S pack or any toher vx v6 as with these new laws on P's and L's i wont be driving any v8s or supercharges or turbos anytime soon.

My plan is to make the car look like an SS obviously easier if i get an S Pack and ill have customs rims and be running it spoilerless.

So heres the first question, whats the procedure for removing a spoiler and filling gaps etc?

Second question is how are the Vx's? do they run well and if the rules permit me ill be fitting some pacemaker headers so what do ya think of that.

And my last questions is just what do you think of my plans in general. give me any opinions or thoughts and try not to flame me, lol.

    -Thanks.

BTW Love this community, i think ill be learning alot from here.

Welcome to the forum. Regarding your first question, you could put grommets in the holes but that doesn't look too good but it's cheap. You could get a panel beater to fill the holes properly and repaint the boot or you could look for a second hand boot in the same colour. Depending on what colour the car is it may be hard to find.
I can't answer your second question because because I haven't driven a VX but I had a VT ( not really much difference) and I was happy with that.

Welcome Terminal. Accentstencil basically said exactly what i was going to say. You may also want to talk to your local car dealers and see if they would be interested in swapping your boot with a spoiler for one without, apparently most dealers will do this if they have a car that is the same color as yours and best of all it wont cost you a cent

Sweet I had heard of using rubber to fill them

Yeah i thought that purchasing a boot without the spoiler in the same colour was an option (pretty obvious) but didnt know there was the possibillity of a swap so thanks for that its something to remember.

    Keep the comments coming guys.

IMHO, a vx would provide pretty good bang for your buck considering what they are going for now and they are no slouches in the power/handling stakes, and as I'm sure you are aware from reading this forum, there are lots of little things you can do to improve performance without doing anything P-Plate illegal.

Also, don't forget the swap/trade threads in this forum, maybe someone will be willing to trade boots with you.

Yeah they have some power the only thing im worried about is the weight.
Ill be doing my research to see what can be done thats legal as an L or P.

When time comes to purchase ill be looking here to see if anyones selling.

EDIT: Also is there any website i can get detailed explanation of the P's and L's rules. I wanna know what i can or cannot do to the car legally or illegally.
    -Cheers

    Hi,

Check this Vic roads site out for info and links:

    Arrive Alive

It should provide you with the info you need. Good luck for the future!

Thanks Longman i had a look at arrive alive but they arent too specific. However they state no performance enhancing parts so i guess no headers or even exhaust.

Oh well at least i can get wheels and do whatever to make it look like an SS. Speaking of wheels i've been looking to get some Falken tyres but not sure which ones so does anyone reccommend any and also some ROH wheels mainly the Adrenalin but ill prolly change my mind.

Thoughts on these issues would be great, thanks.

For the wheels I would check out Wheel King, their prices are really good and I have never heard a bad thing about them: Wheel King > Home

but getting lower profile, wider tyres is a performance enhancement. It DOES improve the performance of the car. Surely that can't be allowed...

Anyway, there would be other things you could do, such as CAI and K&N high fow panel filter in the existing air box.
I don't know of anyone who can look at a polished and ported (70mm) Throttle Body that's still on the car and tell me it's not the standard one.
Also, you might look at getting a remapped Memcal that better accomodates a CAI, high flow filter and throttle body. Change the spark plugs and leads with better ones... the performance would improve and so will effeciency. Any power gain can be "excused" as you taking care of the car well and a decent tune.

I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere

yeah s_ikari2015 i had been thinking of ways to change that would be considered "taking good care" as you said but not sure which mods so thanks for listing a few. Im pretty sure theres some sort of power to weight ratio rule so i guess if i keep it within the ratio i'd be fine.

Anyway ill be looking around for subtle mods to improve the well being and peformance of the car.

    -Cheers

Hey guys ive been looking around to see whats around in terms of lowering the car and i think i might want lows on the back and super lows on the front with 19's. Will this work with vx ss bodykit and also are there any people who have done this so i can have a look at the finished result. Thanks.
