Default Seatbelt light stays on..

Hi just asking for a mate, he has a VT and the seatbelt light on the dash is always on (yes seatbelts are on).. Just wondering if anyone has an idea on what might be wrong with it??

We are thinking that maybe the seatbelt pre-tentioner thingie is buggered, are they easy to replace?....

Also another question, the drivers seat recently snapped from the rails and we had a look underneath and it looks like its been welded?? Does that sound right... He brought the car from a car yard not long ago... Is it legal to have the seat welded to the rail things underneath? When he went to put the clutch in the whole seat basically snapped and the headrest was in the back seat and his knees were in the air.. lucky he wasn't driving on the motorway or in peak hour traffic.. He is having a battle with the car yard he got it from to try and get them to replace it as he sent in a warranty repair thing when the seat started to get wobbly and they didn't do anything.

Just wanting to know if it is legal to have it welded underneath or can that just snap randomly, I've never heard of it happening before..

Any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

I thought the pretenioners were part of the SRS system cause on my vx (different model i know) when i had the pass seat out i had to move the car and now my srs light is on and beeps everytime i start the car to tell me there has been a fault. waiting to swing a mate that works at holden for a free tech 2 code clear

but you might find a wire that sensors when the seatbelt buckle is clipped in is not connected and telling you its not

I've been informed there are three things that will set that light off. 1, Clock spring or other airbag sensors... 2, seatbelt pretensioners... 3, ABS module...... or a faulty (false) reading from these sensors.
