EX Pursuit SS Tune??

Do the VT SS ex cop cars have a different tune or any performance upgrades at all??? Im thinkin about puting a deposit on one tomorrow. Cheers

i THINK they had a cop chip but every one says they take them out when there sold but i doubt it depends if the detailor cbf

This has been covered alot on this site, there is no such thing as a cop chip. They have no engine upgrades, or special tunes or anything of the sort.

In terms of upgrades however...It should have ABS, FE2 Sports Suspension, IRS, LSD, Driver's Airbag and Passenger's Airbag (SRS), Sump protector plate and fuel tank protector plate, Door interior light switches disabled, map reading light/interior light, special brake pads (front and rear), certified police speedometer, with light in instrument binnacle over speedo (to read speedo no lights on). With the V8, the seats have SS embroided on them. The 9C1 pack is added to an Executive.

Seeing as you are in Country SA, it could be an ex highway patrol SS not just an exec 5L with SS on the seats. Check it out though. Not much of a difference anyway but as the exec cop cars get just about all the SS extra's such as ABS.

Thanks man, this sucker is a 5.7L 6speed i should be puttin her on the hoist today for a good look over. It deffenitly has all the above things mentioned and still has the extra loom under the bonnet. It looks to be a genuine SS so it must of been a highway pursuit of some sort.

Yeah same, I was lead to believe they were all automatic. Highway Patrol SS cars may be a different story though as they only had very very few for each model. Maybe 20? VZ was the last of the SS highway patrols in SA, no such thing as a V8 police car here at all anymore.

Well... the bosses get their 6L Calais' etc... Just I guess they dont deem a 6L V8 necessary for pursuits. The issue with the actual SS patrol cars became usability as they were simply too low for jumping gutters, median strips etc. I think.

The 1200cc BMW police bikes would probably cost the same to run, cause everytime they fill up with their 98 octane fuel, they use a litre of Mobil 1 oil as well

There has allways been manual Highway patrols cars out here in the bush, maybe not recently but I don't see why not. 80% of police cars I see are marked VE SS's. It's a pity about the South Australian V8 highway patrol gone extinct. When everyone was into VL turbo ceptors the candy blue V8 VL's from SA were the weapon of choice : )
