Buying a VT *First Car*
I'm thinking of buying a VT for my first car
I have a budget of around $5000 for the car, and if it doesn't come with Gas when i buy it, then i will get a Gas conversion to save on fuel economy.
I don't mind buying a VT with slight work to be done on it, as I have friends who can help me, and can do things cheaply, yet with quality
Are there any issues I should look out for when buying a VT?
Any good places to look for buying one other than Car Sales, Cars Guide, Ebay, Trading Post?
Which are the best?
Where to get good deals?
Cheers

Here is a link that discusses VT faults: VT - VX Faults
Apart from the places you've mentioned already there are really only car dealers (where you will probably pay more than the car is worth) or the auctions, where you often get more for your money.

Fowles and pickles are the auctions around vic, depends where your from though.
$5 would get you an average vt i would assume with over 200,000 k's.
And dont put ur car on gas... gas is bad.

I'm from Eastern Suburbs in Melbourne
and I know Gas is bad, but for running a car on P plates it is much more cost-effective and fuel efficient, $30-40 per 500 k's is better than $90 per 500

It kind of dont work like that... I get much better economy using petrol than I do gas, yeah ok Gas is cheaper but petrol lasts longer and dont take ****ing AGES to fill up.
I am forever at the LPG pump getting more.

Yeah but it may be cheaper but as christie just said, it doesnt last any where near as long, and have you priced gas at the moment?
Its SOARING because everyone is converting to gas, i seriously wouldnt think there is a HUGE difference between the amount of k's per dollar gas vs petrol.
Not to mention the lack of power and damage it does to ur car
Also everyone i know that bought a car on gas has either ripped the gas system out or just doesnt use it at all cause they hate the way the car drives/smells and what not, mate had to get his carby rebuilt and everything because gas warped it

Long runs SURE cheap as **** last big run i did was $15 for 400kms, but city driving honestly not really worth it.
I have the factory system, which when I boot it whilst running gas it gives a burst of fuel, so performance wise I'm not feeling any difference at all.

Gas just isn't worth it, in the long run it'll cost you more in repairs then what you saved at the pump.Besides, in my experience with gas on cars they chew it like no tomorrow compared to ulp.

Yeah speak to somebody with some knowledge, not just opinions.
I have ran cars on gas for many years with no problems. My VQ V8 runs great on LPG,missus can get over 500klms out of a 70lt tank in it(me a bit less)Is the car slow? No.

Yeah, i'll do that
Thats what my initial thought was, you get 80% of the power with Gas with more fuel efficiency, and Gas prices aren't skyrocketing yet, and it is still far cheaper than petrol which is set to steadily tip $1.50 per litre...
I dunno, i'll talk to my mechanic...
The main thing at this stage is to find a good VT, with $5000 available

Def try the car websites listed above, there are heaps of wagons around that price (I am looking) so surely you should be able to find a sedan for that price.
