Question VT Air Conditioning TX Valve.

The TX valve on my VT is held on by two allen key type screws. Does anyone have any experience in removing the TX valve. My attempts with an allen key have been unsuccessful!

Thanks B.

Hey man have you had the gas sucked out by a pro b4 u yank the tx off? when you get it off you'll have to replace the O-rings with special a/c ones and get some proper high gate a/c spay lube other wise they can tear during tightening and leak. Also there are 4 o-rings in total 2 on the front pipes and 2 on the pipes behind the tx.
duno if any of this helps u tough.

I think they are actually torx scriews, ie star shaped, you should be able to get the required bits at most auto parts stores.

Have you reclaimed all of the refrigerant before you remove it? you could get seriously hurt otherwise!

Thanks for your concern!

Yes, I have had all the refrigerant removed and have fitted a new compressor and receiver drier. Unfortunately things have come unstuck with the tx valve.

Can I ask why you are replacing the T.X Valve? Its not something that generally wears out.

No real reason - just bought it as part of a kit. I've come this far, so will now replace it as I have it. Can't hurt I guess, just has caused me a few difficulties removing the old one. Perhaps i shouldnt have bothered.
