If it runs better without it, then you have a problem with the MAF sensor.

i know there is a problem with the air flow meter that is way it is not connected hence the reason why i need to disconnect the light from staying on

You could remove the globe from the cluster. It would be a much better idea to fix the MAF sensor because when you do really have a problem you won't know if the engine warning light doesn't illuminate.

Good idea....Rather than fix the problem, just remove the part.
I would get another MAF, pick one up from the wreckers.

Definately get another MAF. $30- $40 from the wreckers and give it a clean 1st. Cheaper than asking Holden to reset ur trouble codes

make sure to get one that has the same part number, however. I bought one from eBay and although it was "supposed" to be for my car it totally threw out the idling and everything. I bought it with a ported & polished housing. Ended up swapping my sensor back in. Instantly went back to smooth running. Ported & polished housing appears to have improved acceleration, along with the 70mm Throttle body and cooler thermostat.

Unless you get the car tuned for Mafless, I think it is crucial to your efficiency. If you have tried 4 MAFs' and no improvement, I think the MAFs' are actually good and the wire to the plug may be stuffed.
The Haynes manual has all the specific voltages for testing these things in it. Most Mechanics can measure the voltage of the MAF plug to tell you if it's working correctly.

TheForgotten , oil light too? the engin light cant really cause any damage so it dosent really matter if u take that out but if the oil comes on i would be checking oil level straight away!! its kinda vital.
