I have a late VX Berlina which includes the triple window trip computer - and I can't zero the trip details (distance, time and fuel).
The book says "with the trip display showing, press up and down arrows together". Nothing.![]()
If I hold both buttons while turning on the ignition, it beeps (diddle-ip) and shows RESETin the left window and makes the word rESET in the character display in the centre window. This flashes 40 times (ignoring any other buttons that are or aren't pressed) and then goes back to the display it was on.
I understand I may have upgraded software loaded. (They lost all my settings and history when addressing a previous problem).
Any ideas?

I had the same problem when I first bought my Calais. I turn on the ignition, page through the screens using the mode button until the trip meter/fuel used/litres per km window comes up, (windows after the odometer) and then press the up/down arrows at the same time. I found it only needs a quick press to reset as if you hold them down to long the meter will not reset and will only reset while the trip window is shown.
hope this helps.
Yes a quick press should do it, holding the buttons on start up puts you into the next service request reset mode.
By the way, for a little more info on your car try holding the mode & up buttons while turning on the ignition and then step through the diagnostics displays with the menu button, press up & down together and momentarily to exit.
This used to happen on my VT II Berlina until i realised i was doing it wrong.
Everytime i used to get in the car after filling the tank id try to reset the trip prior to taking off...........no luck.
Heres how it works for me:
I switch my Mode until i could see the "Trip Time" on the left window, then i'd reset by holding the up and down buttons while in motion. This is the only way that i can reset my trip computer.
Cheers
On only two of the three screen views (when you are stopped)..Quickly press the two Arrow buttons twice "< >" it will go beep and bobs your uncle.
