Default Diff for vx

Hey guys,

I bought a borgwarner crown and pinion 4:11 ratio.

Will this fit into a VX commodore 3.8 ecotec automatic?

Im not rebuilding the centre, just changing the crown and pinion.

Any 1 done it b4?

Cheers Andrew

Yeah it should fit im pritty sure, why 4:11 though? pritty high ratio. Wont be the best on fuel for the 3.8, and will rev high.

You sure you want to go 4.11? Fine for a strip car, not such a great idea for a road car. Its not just fuel economy, but driveability as well.

Thank u 4 replying.

So is that y the vx's have the rubber donut infront of the pinion?
I thought vt-vx's were the same, but now I stand corrected. wats the highest ratio 2 go if i cant fit a 4:11. Im not worried abt fuel and how it drives.

the VT diff doesnt have the rubber doughnut joiner it has a uni joint
if you want 4.11 you will have to use the VT or earlier diff and the tail shaft ,there are lots of guys using for the drags but the arent as strong as the VX and later diffs
3.9 is as high as you can go in a VX diff this is a good ratio for A4 if you arent worried about the higher revs and will give you quicker take offs
