I have a question that i hope some can answer for me..
What a night for this to happen, Good Friday Eve.
I have a VT - 2000 - Manual
My ignition barrel felt a little difficult to turn over the last few days.
i.e. when key inserted, into barrel.
I would have to wiggle the key back and forth to start.
The internal rotating part of the barrel would seem to be sitting in a little.
I will pull the key back and reinsert and the key would turn with ease.
Today, I went to start my car, key felt sticky. so i wiggled it and the key turned.
"Now i,m not quite sure if i felt a something give way"
The key turned and the dash lights and radio started, in "ACC position" key kept turning to start..
But nothing happened, I can lock my steering wheel.
But when I turn the key to start or off power is still there in ACC position STAYS THE SAME. ON
I,m thinking the barrel has collapsed and the ignition switch doesn't sense the key movement..
BUT owning a VT, I have found not always what you think.
Have removed the Positive Terminal from the battery, so not to run flat.
Thanks guys...
I have a Holden workshop manual, so removal and refit seems straight forward if the barrel is gone..
Would anyone know approximately how much they would cost?
As cash flow is low ant Easter break on... Cherrs
I also tried my spare key and another spare head.
Unlock button would not unlock doors... That,s got me stumped.... unless doest respond in ACC position.
Happy Easter to all as well.
Great site.
