Pinging 2nd
I own a 5 speed VT Spack.
The other day I reached roughly 90kms in 2nd gear. As it reached 90 i sort of felt like a misfire of some sort and i noticed a slight drop in power so i instincly geared up to 3rd. I'v been worried that i might of blown something? I've recently had problems with spark plug leads but I'm not 100% on what the issue may be, any help would be appreciated. Thank you =).

Spark plugs or leads, fuel filter would be worth a look. If you haven't changed the fuel filter for 20000kms+ it would be a good place to start. 90km/h in 2nd tells me you need to do some preventitive maintenence to keep the engine safe.

You do realise the computer will retard the timing to stop some moron reving the crap out of it and blowing it. 90k's in second gear would have to be close to the rev limit, if not past it.

Would be close to revlimit, I recall reaching 100k's in 2nd on the motorway, that was just on redline, so assuming the gear ratios are the same as a VT it would not have been the computer retarding the timing. more likely an engine miss, and in need of a good service.

i get 98 out of 2nd in my 5spd and thats right on 5500. an ecotec isnt going to blow up unless she has 300,000 on the clock and you have reved the **** out of it every time it is driven.

mate just go holden brand or bosch or sumthing no point spending big on leads they make absloutely no difference...i spend $100+ on topgun spiral wire leads and i wouldnt do it again...no performance diff and just a waste of cash imo...think most guys will tell u the same if u want coloured ones then ull ave to spend more but if ur happy with black haha then get standards
and yeh as for reaching 90 in 2nd id be struggling in the ute...i have 3.45's haha
cheers
