When you program the new key head, you need the old key head.Dont know why it didnt open the doors.Remember VR or VT on wards i think have the 2 stage button.Press the button once and it unlocks the drivers door and then press it again and it unlocks the rest of the doors.Dont know why it didnt unlock...maybe press the buttom properly.

The keys from a locksmith are partially programmed by the locksmith using either a working key you have or the BCM security pin number, this program then finalises when the numbers match when its in the car.

isn't it to do with the rolling immobiliser code (ie. it changes everytime you use it)

Same sort of problem with the new key I got for the VZ. Cant use the new key and the old key. One cancels the other. So if you use the new key the original wont unlock the car. If you put key in the door to unlock the alarm goes of. Very - VERY anoying. Still waiting for Holdens to have a go at fixing it. Hope on the 60k service they may choose to fix it. Else $120 down the gurgler.

when programmed by a locksmith the key wil not open the doors until it is cycled in the ignition to finalise it, getting a key programmed like this will not "cancel" any other keys.
not all locksmiths can do VY-VZ keys correctly.

The key was programed by Holdens. It will start the car and run. But then the original key will not open the doors. I'm puzzled by this one. Should I try the keys again out of town so as to not set the alarm off again and bug the people next door?

its possible the key has failed, the programming sequence cannot delete a working key

You are not meant to use the new key to open the doors, until you lock the inside doors manually start up the car and let it idle for a few minutes to burn it into the key. Good thing about mister minit is they give you instructions and a code number for your key, in case you ever lose the whole set, they can cut it from the code.

Just had the VZ back to Holden. The computer is stuffed and will not let the new key work properly. They have ordered a replacement computer under warranty. Top service from Southgate.
