    Default Handbreak warning light(and sound)

    I need a some help.
A couple of days ago when i took my hand break off the light stayed on i put the hand break on and off again and all was fine but now its gotten a hell of a lot worse now in the middle of driving the light comes on and i get the annoying hand break on beep and light. Is there an easy fix for this?

? I'm clueless, your gonna have to give info on how to check these things aswell
BTW my dad seems to think it may have something to do with me putting the hand break on to tight which i find it interesting him telling me that now as when i was on my L's(3 months back) he would bitch at me for not putting hard enough.

definitely sounds like the switch might need adjusting. Usually the only other thing is low brake fluid pressure which will also set that alarm/light off. You can rule that out though if the brake pedal isn't spongy and it doesn't take a whole lot of pedal movement to get the brakes working.

I'd say, if your brakes are functioning normally, only just needing to touch the pedal, and the brake fluid level is fine then it would be a dodgy switch under the hand brake lever. Easiest solution is take it to Holden.
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere

I think i found the problem, i just looked under the hand break cover and found 20c
I'll go for a drive a bit later see if it did the job but i couldn't get it to mess up in the drive way.

That was a cheap fix and you gained 20 cents.

You wouldn't believe it but I had a similar problem today with my VT. Brake warning light staying on and annoying sound as well. read this thread and decided to check and there was a 20c piece stuck down there.

Those coins can be a problem, I couldn't open my fuel cap cover due to a 5 cent piece.

lol i had exact same problem although mine wasnt money, you know the map lights how they have the metal cover thing over them, well when i bought my vt calais 3 years ago, the globe was blown went to change it, and that metal cover fell out and i lost it, looked for ages and gave up, over a month ago now my hand brake did the same thing, i thought the switch inside the handbrake cover straight away so i took it off and sure enough there was the metal cover for the fog lights haha
