Default VX 5 Speed

Hi All, First time on this forum.

Just bought a Holden VX S Manual, 60000kms. LOVING IT! Only mods so far are triple platnium sparkies and getting a set of splitfire Dual Core Leads this weekend.

Just a couple of random gearbox/clutch questions that i hope someone can help me with.
When the engine if on, changing the gears is easy/smooth, but when the car is on it becomes much more stiffer/harder to change. Is this normal????? if not what could it be??

Also ive been told by a couple of people that the little container sitting next to the brake fluid is clutch fluid????? Is this correct?? If so why does it say brake fluid on the lid of it.(i thought clutch and brake fluid are completely different?) It seems to be in need of a change as it is black/thick as. Anyone know or have any instructions on how to do this. Looked it up and couldnt find anything??

hey mate, welcome to just commodores;

i have a VT V6 5speed, lots of fun arent they!!!

when changing gears without the motor on it is quite hard to move the shifter, If you are moving the stick around and the engine is off make sure you have the cultch pedal despressed. I wouldnt be too worried about the stiffness as long as it drives fine.

The clutch and the brake are filled up using the same opening i believe. I just had a look at mine and it is black aswell. Car has 80,000KMS. when i bought it i had the clutch fluid changed 72,000 so i wouldnt worry about the colour of your fluid.

have fun on the site and look after your 5speed mate.
