Hey All,
Has anyone fitted the fored induction technologi's Type S CAI to their 6 ecotech?? Are the power gains what they say????? Looked it up on their site and sounds like a much better idea than your big mouth, modifyied box etc. Probaly gonna put in the order next month.
Current mods are only K&N Panel, Splitfire Triple Platnium Plugs, Splitfire Dual Core Leads(coming on the weekend)
Thanks
seems like a good set up, however.
F.I.T has had some trouble in the past with their customer service. They may have solved these problems however it's something you should find out.
If you have a couple of hours you can easily make your own CAI that will work the same as the F.I.T. concept and will only cos you around $10-$30. I will try find the how to thread for you now.....
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
I have a FIT Type S CAI. Made a small power gain - prob 5hp ish, however the blower whine was much louder (not overboard tho) which i think is its biggest benefit. power gain vs money spent is debatable weather it was worth it - a home made system would do the same job for about a fifth the price, but it did put a grin on my face, and i don't regret it so i guess i cant complain. I believer Yella Terra also do a similar CAI set-up, not sure the price tho.
Just realised. forgot to mention i got a super6. Not sure it will have quite the same effect on an NA motor, but it does allow the motor to breath easier. for what its worth, if i were to do it again, id probably go and buy a 3" - 4" rubber pipe (or similar sized poly pipe pained black), and do it myself. The only real difference of this to the FIT system is that it relocates the MAF sensor, which is supposed to improve throttle response, although if you get motivated it isn't hard to DIY.
hey man thanks alot for the info, think i will have to give it a go, let use know
I think the MAF relocation was more for the A2A kits that were having info lag for the the ECU and that was to give it the best shot at calibrating close to real time.
The stock set up has the MAF near the airbox to get a good even air flow.
Mate some pics of the Type S CAi would be appreciated![]()
hey mate this is what i was going off
V6 Performance Australia - V6 Power Parts
looks pretty sweet but not many pics
I'm in 2 minds about it, when I got mine I couldn't feel anything but ripped off, out of the screenshot there is a single piece of piping running toward the ground.
What are you paying for? Someone to drill a hole in the box and some hose held in by a cable tie or 2, is that really worth the $250 - $300 I paid at the time, no way I am thinking.
From what I've read the YT CAI is a much better product at a more reasonable price but since I don't own one I can only base everything on purely what I have read thus far.
hey mate, so did u get the type s??
theres a list of parts in there and apart from getting a modified bottom box/pipes leading under the car, you also get the the pipe leading form the airbox to the throttle body ( i THINK YT want like 180 just for this piece excluding the MAF relocator and that). sounds pretty steep but as a whole kit compared to others its alright?????????
Yes I got the type s, just looking at the site.
FIT and v6performance appear to be the same company.
could be wrong but i heard that FIT stopped trading... owner got into trouble financially....people were putting orders in on the site and never got their product. can anyone confirm this?
The FIT name may have stopped but V6 Performance Australia lists everything that used to be on the old FIT site, even the cars and testemonials.
Noticed on the site the "official" FIT ENHANCED 300KW badge so it is definately associated with FIT.
You can build the Type S yourself for about $50 max.
It's all about getting as many CAI inlet pipes/hoses in the bottom of the box and start by fitting the factory OTR snorkel.

Just a quick whois look up shows, both sites are registered under the same abn, and that the abr site lists him as still trading. Be really careful with rumours like this as it could affect his business. And last thing any of us want is to have any competition to go out of the market place. Not saying anything definite either way of course.
Well pretty sure it aint a rumor, a couple of other threads have talked about it also. I was going to by some high ratio rockers from FIT before i heard the news, if he is still trading i still will... just giving the bloke a heads up thats all
hey mate thanks alot for the heads up , i ended up making my own custom one, same idea but cost me around 45 bucks, (pipes+second air box in case i stuffed the original)
made a nice differnece and has a nice sound, seems heaps freeer when reving out. as well
cheers
Yeah ive done that too, saves you a stack of money with the same affect. If youve got enough time you can have a pipe going down underneath the car aswell as one that comes out behind the headlight = more air!
if you think 2 pieces of radiator hose and 3 cable ties is worth $300, then by all means by it. .
or make your own for $30. . up to you.
anyone got photos + instructions + shopping list for the home made one?
hey,
mate what i got was:
90MM PVC PIPE - STRAIGHT PIECE
90MM PVC PIPE - 90 DEGREE ANGLE
90MM PVC PIPE - 22 DEGREE ANGLE
BOTTOM AIR BOX PIECE - its $30 from holden, dont need it really just got it in case i stuffed the one i had in.
BLACK HEAT RISTANT SPRAY PAINT - do light coats and it comes out mad
Cable ties + Superglue/or/pumblers glue - tied two together and then to the chassis.
I cut my hole on the lower part of the box and put the right angle into that, then the straight and then the 22 degree and the bottom for a bit of a lip. If you place it right youl miss the radiator and air con hoses.
got any pics? where does the pipe go?
