Hi all,
I am looking at getting a VX sedan to replace my aged AU falcon (with 760,000kms on the clock!) i have had a look around tradingpost and eBay and stuff but would just like to know what i can expect for between 4000-6000 bucks? and is it worth just saving more quid and going the VY/Z?
cheers,
SLK
Old rule of thumb is still true in your case. What you pay is generally what you will get in terms of condition and quality. Just look for something with the lowest km's possible.
My thought is that the vx was GMH's answer of any bugs etc that was experienced with the VT's. Get the series 2 if you can (try to avoid the first run of any model). However the VT and VX are fairly similar so there shouldn't be any issues with the VX.
for 4000-6000 i wouldnt expect much. that will get you a series 1 vx is high kms 250,000 or more with no service history and very thrash etc. I own a series 2 vt and dont have any problems with it at all. as project_corty said try to buy a series 2 if you can however it will cost u more $$$. i think you should save a bit more money and still buy the VX. that way you can find one with low kays and in good condition
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
If you buy a VX for those dollars it will either have mega kays or be worn or both. The only real variance between VT and VX is the suspension geometry was improved with VXII (but not that much) and the trim options were more attractive IMO. The VX lights are more modern looking too IMO but VTs look great too,
For that money I would be looking for a higish kays VTII Calais, even a supercharged one if you might think of going for some performance mods one day.
Ok so i want get much of a VX for that Price...
What sort of VT do u think i could score?
VT series 2 100,000-150,000 km's for like 6500-7000
Brux's S Pack V6 VU
MODS:
- 20" Jet League F-22's all round
- Lovells springs in rear, Kings in front
- Advance extractors
- Custom full mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust from cat
- Altezza head and tail lights
- BILLET Products short shifter
- NGK Iridium plugs
- K&N pod
- VIBE Black Air 6 Speakers
- VIBE Black Air 12 Amp
- VIBE Slick A4 Amp
- Clarion DVD Screen
I'd buy a granpa's VR for that price range.
We got rep back, yaaay!
Nice looking VX Acclaim with 109000 clicks went for $9,400 last week here at auction. VT's with 200,000 plus on the odometer are around the $4,000 mark, and I think are even cheaper in the eastern states.

Well when I sell my VX Series II in a few months it will be going for $13,000 to $14,000 because it's got low kilometers (68,500 now), full service history and it's straight as an arrow. Honestly, if you find a VX for less than $6,000 then it's probably going to be that much of a pig that you will spend another $2,000 in a few months time fixing it up.
