    Unhappy Moving Pedals

I am getting a tad annoyed with the positioning of the pedals in my 02 VX Acclaim Auto.

When using cruise control there is no where to rest my foot other then on the accelerator pedal. The Acclaim replaced a (cough cough) Mondeo which had room just beside the accelerator for me to rest my foot in a comfortable position while cruising.

I have not had a look in the foot well yet but thought I throw the question in.

Are the pedals easily able to be moved over so that I do not have to rest my foot on the accelerator when cruising?

No offence and not your fault. But a foot rest for using cruise wtf, if you had to brake or even accelerate you would be screwed. That is the main reason i wont use cruise control, i dont feel safe with it, and makes me feel more unsafe knowing other roads uses have a foot rest and have their foot no where near the brake or accelerator.

I get where you are coming from.
However I tend to use cc when traffic is light and I have 100m or so in front. I am an IT Contractor and spend more time on the road than most commuters, going from client to client, often on what we call motorway. With the VX speed indicator I rarely exceed the speed limits so tend NOT to be in the "fast lane", consequently I am overtaken by stupid idiots.
I still have the conundrum of what to do with my foot when using cc. It's actually a bit uncomfortable at times because I have to rest my foot in an even more uncomfortable position.
As I said earlier I could rest my foot on the wheel well right beside the accelerator pedal in the Mondeo but there is not the same room in the Acclaim.

Oh ok i get wat you mean, i thought you meant like an actual foot rest their. if its just the wheel well, my paddock bomb has that and is a pain in the ass, i always get it mixed up the accelerator when driving through mud results in gettings bogged.
Just think that atleast the VX has some protection between you and the wheel.

Dont know about anyone else but I either have my seat far enough away that it just sits there... just away from the pedal or my seat is close enough that my foot goes behind the accelerator pedal.

I only put my foot under the pedal when im on the highway (bush) and its daylight... so I can see whats comming (kangeroos etc)

other than that i just bend my knee and sit my foot over neer where the transmission is.... so its sort of laying infront of the seat....

god if people cant find a comfortable place for their feet when they are driving, we are doomed :P

I have noticed the same problem. On my old Golf I had the kick panel I could put my foot.
I normally have my foot flat on the floor like I am sitting on a chair and normally have enough time to get my foot to the brake pedal or accelerator

Have you got fabric floor mats in or just a bare plastic floor tray/mat? With a fabric floor covering it should give enough grip with your foot/shoe to be able to prop your leg somewhere.

I am 184cm tall and my missus is 150cms and we can both cruise it fine.

    Buy less wide shoes.

Adjust your steering wheel so you can bend your knee and put your foot flat on the floor. You can then rest your leg against the door. That's what I do.
I haven't lost my mind, it's backed up on tape somewhere

    Thanks guys.

I have a fabric mat with the rubbery insert for under the pedals.

I am 185cm tall with size 12 feet. This is the first car in a long time where I do not need to put the seat as far back as it will go.

I guess I am going to have to try a few different foot and leg positions (Keep it clean please!!!).

At least with the DBA slots and so called competition pads I am able to stop better than most stock cars.

Heh that reminds me. I was getting off the motorway the other day when I saw in my rear vision mirror someone weaving in and out of the traffic at a great rate of knots. Keeping one eye on this idiot and one at the traffic in front I had a feeling I should start gently braking earlier than usual (you thought I was going to say left it to the last moment before exercising the DBA's and ABS, nope sorry not that type of story).

Anyway I think the idiot crapped their pants because they obviously were not watching the traffic in front and did a big cloud of tyre smoke and ending up in the emergency stopping lane beside me. Nearly crapped my pants too with an Oh f*** moment!

I mouthed off at them before cruising off. Would have loved to have heard the excuses flow trying to explain to a copper why they were not able stop in time despite me stopping up slowly.
