Sorry for another lowering thread but I would like a walk through of how to switch the stock springs on my VTII Berlina to superlow king springs? (I think I will only do the rears myself as I don't have (or know where to get) a spring compressor). Any and all help will be appriciated. cheers.
put the frame of your car on jack stands take your wheels off put a jack under the diff remove your shocker bolts drop the diff and pull out the old springs and replace with the new ones you might have to take out some of the sway bar bolts it is pretty easy it may take a bit of influanceing to get the old springs out just be a bit rough nothing will break then just reverse the procedure to put it bak together hope i covered everything
Sure cheers buddy, that is only for the rears right? I hear the fronts are a bit more complicated...? I should be getting the springs soon so ill give it a shot soon, could i do it just with a couple or a few standards jacks?
Rears are easy as pie...
Me and my mate used to change our all the time using just one normal jack and the spare under the car incase it drops...
Loosen wheel, jack it up, tkae wheel off, remove shock bolt, pop shock out of its spot pull the spring out, new spring in, shock, wheelm put it down.... done, next wheel
(Remember to have your handbrake off otherwise you will not get the spring out)
Front i don't know about all that well... ended up taking half the front end apart working it out...lol
I'd assume the easiest way would be to jack it up, remove the wheel unbolt the struck top and bottom, take it out and replace the spring...
But someone should probably elaborate with that.
mate to do the fronts is easy, just grab a jack, front of the car up, wheel off, undo bottom bolts from back of caliper to the strut tower, remove 3 bolts from top of strut tops, and should be able to pull the whole assembly out.
note: do not remove the centre bolt which hold the shock in. as it will make the spring expand. also there is more to be done i just cant remember right now but if you are going to be pulling it out might as well be changing the bearings on the top or atleast re-greasing them.

don't know if thats ok to post here lol but its got everything you need
edit: guess its not ok to post lol. pm and i'll send you the link in a email if you need it
okay cheers everyone, ill give it all a shot when i get the springs soon.
step 1. for the rears take off the wheels jack the car up and put it on stands take the wheels off put the stands under the body off the car like the chasy or the door seals (where u are supposed to put that ****ie little jack when u get a puncture)
step2. support the diff wit a jack remove the shocker bolts from the botom of the shocker
step3. put spring compresors on the springs so when u drop the diff they dont expand too much and u cant get them out iff u dont have spring commpresors like i did use strong metal wire i dunno how safe this is do it at your own risk make sure u wrap it good
step4. then remove these 2 sensors with an allen key they are for the abs or the trac contorl i think they are located one on each side ov the diff and are held in with one botl each the reson for removing these are so the wire attaced to them dosent snap when u lower the diff do this wit the ignistion off and dont forget to put them bak in b4 u turn on the car other wise ur car may log up a code
step 5 remove the for bolts holding the rear mount for the diff up onto the chasey of the car once all that is removed proced to lower ur diff slowly lower it till it cant be lower no more like till it gets stuck or sumthing
step 6 . if the springs are still a bit tight and wont come out get a big pry bar in there one the lower arm and get someone to push down on it while u pull the spring down when doing the left side it might get stuck on the exhaust just keep pushing down the exahust is held on by rubber that will be able to strechtr down a little
step 7 then pput the new springs in witch if you are lowering your car the springs will be much shoter and just slide in easyly then re asemble in reverse order not forgeting to put bak those sensors
front..
step 1 jack up car remove wheels
step 2 behind the strut is a stabiliszer bar remove the top bolt and the rubbers and get a pry bar in there use a bit of force and get it out of its hole try having the sterring turned when doing this
step 3 next rmove the two bottom bolts holding the bottom of the strut to the nukel
step4 then remve the top bolt and the strut should fall strait out
step 5 wit the strut on the ground remvove the top bolt u should really put spring compresors on the spring but i didnt its not very safe but i just put rags all over it and un did the bolt it had a bit of force and just poped out a little bit but i managed to hold it fine lol i no its probz risky and i coulda been hurt then just put the new spring in and do it all up but new greese on the bering and put it all bak to gether and ur done
lol i might have missed something i havent done this in ages so dont get all nasty to me if i did and escuse the spelling i aint the best and cant be ***ed typing this took me ages casue i am not a good typer
With the VT ive heard to loosen the rear arm bolts where the camber kit sit to let everything adjust then tighten back up. Is this right? or just undo shock and swap springs?
Anyone know?
i only took off the shocks to install the rears. didn't touch any other bolts
I finished putting SSLs in and i will have to re-adjust the camber as when i let down the jacks the arm twisted the bushes in the camber kit. very happy about how it sits now though. will probably change fronts to SLs or SSLs soon.
