howdy guys great site...look forward to havin a good look around once i lose my car worries..lol
been a huge holden fan all my life.so when the cash was free went and got one.
1999 vt commodore or BELLA as we call her..nothing flash..but still a commodore.had her about six months..been great never missed a beat..
TILL TODAY...came home yesterday parked her up for the night..no problems..
went to go to work today and ..well she would not go???
turn key till lights came on..waited for all the noises to stop{always have}..
went to turn one more to fire her up...and nothing..the dash light all seem ok..
if i turn key fast it tries to start but starter motor stops before it fires.{can not hold started on.it cuts itself off}when it does try to fire up it gives out a big cough and dies..like its flooded or not on all cylinders..but it just wont fire up..
i have seen on here how to check codes for errors but i'm a bit scared to try that..thought i might see if you wonderful people can help me narrow it down ..or if anyone else has seen this...as i say i can't even get it to go...i miss her already..any help would be awesome..thanks..poor things park out on the street..had to push her out there to get to other car![]()
Hi there a lot of threads about car not starting ,but you may want to check your relays under the bonnet on the drivers side look under the cover it shows you what ones are what ,the starter relay and fuel relay,,see how you go ,,
yeah i looked in some of the other threads..they seem to be more about cutting out while driving..cheers i'll check it out...i 've checked all plugs and wiring but shes just shut up shop
It sounds to me like the immobilizer isn't turning off. Does the security light in the mode switch flash as you are trying to start it?
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
y yes it does...so the would stop the starter turning..got key checked today seems a ok..
I had the same symptoms and in my case had to get a new BCM (body control module). The immobilizer is part of the BCM. When the security light flashes while you are trying to start the car that means the immobilizer is still on.
You may need to take it to Holden to get it sorted out because if it is the BCM, you will need to get the new BCM linked to the ECU (engine computer)
You will also get a new key head with the new BCM.
Unfortunately, if it is the BCM it's going to cost a bit.
Other things that can stop the immobilizer from turning off are a faulty key head or key reader.

i would guess it is the immobilizer.. get ur key fixed.. this happened to me when i picked my car up.. wouldnt start.. turned over but then stoppped
prob the battery in the key isnt workin or something like that
opps forgot about this..all fixed now..did a little nosing around, and found a loose wire
under the steering wheel..plugged it back in in and VROOOOOOm!!..hehe silly me..
i think i might have pulled it off when i adjusted the steering wheel..but it helped
me find this place..so got to be good..been gettin a few ideas..so i've started a few things on my car..
will pot some picks when done..cheers dan
