On 2 occasions now the oil warning light and chimes have come on whilst driving. This has occured bout 1 1/2 appart and the oil level is fine. Any ideas?
Cheers
Maybe a problem with the oil pressure switch. It is in front of the oil filter.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
When I hammer mine out of a corner sometimes the chime comes on for a sec. I think it is because the oil has sloshed away from the sensor in the sump.
Yeah that will happen. The oil gets thrown around a bit and it may register as being low for a split second.
Same thing happens with fuel going around corners hard, the fuel light may come on and then turn off once it stabilises. Nothing to really worry about.
The oil light may also be because the oil is the wrong weight. Maybe go one grade thicker if that's what you think it is. It all depends on what you use though. If you're using a 0w-30, than it's probably a good idea.
cheers for the help. i'm using Mobil 1 5W-50 and have been for 2yrs. Thou it is due for a service now.
The holden guys are guessing its the pressure switch aswell but cnt b sure without them testing it
