I have a 2002 VX Commodore Exec auto, ex mufty with the ls2 suspension and lsd. I am interested in chucking an LS1 V8 in and getting rid of the 3.8 motor. What would be needed to do this? Other than engine, what else would be needed? Easier to just buy an ss, or worth while
If you ask me, much easier to buy an SS. Apart from engine you will need the transmission, ECU and other things that people on this forum with more knowledge on the subject will tell you.

I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
depends on wat u want to do to the motor really if ur gonna have to pull the motor out to have say everything balanced and stroke it and other stuff while ur goin why bother buyin an ss just to pull the motor out??
buy a wrecked car for bout 5k complete have motor on stand build it up and when finished put it in.
just to me that makes sense as u can still drive ur v6 around while working the 8.
Thats my opinion anyway its wat i plan on doing lol
Just put on a capa or raptor supercharger and you'll have the same performance anyway.
Depends how much u can get the engine and trans for if u get a good deal it may be worth it. but ur gonna need ECU and loom PIM (powertrain interface module) and all that sort of thing too. dont be fooled by thinking u can get away with just an engine theres more to it these days. I would recommend just upgrading ur car dude. it won't be cheap
the more i come to think of it.
oh ok, might be nice anyway, move up to a model with electric windows![]()
